We obvs don’t know every skate crew in the country, but from a mediated standpoint, it’s hard to think of a crew as aggressively productive as Duplex. The fact that they do it all just off Saturdays and Sundays is INSANE. Our buddy Greg Navarro flew down to Florida to tag along with them and document how it all gets done for Thrasher‘s new “Lifers” series.
Bronze 56k dropped an edit to push their NB# shoe, starring Jordan Trahan, Shaun Paul and Marcello Campanello — with a cameo by the venerable William McFeely. Huge year for hitting Flushing in the snow.
The South Beach Macy’s ledge ranks as something that — despite walking past it every Miami trip ever — we’re perfectly ok never skating. But Zoogie and the crew always get the most out of this innocuous high, beveled ledge with no end. Wolff’s ender is dope.
BigHenDawg and Mel started regularly uploading new stuff to their YouTube channel, with the latest being an eleven-minute interview with Gas Giants C.E.O., Ish Cepeda.
Lots of incredible hucking in “Dirty Rabbit II,” a disco-loving Japan scene video by Kizukush, presented by our friends at Pocket Skate Mag.
“Strong arguments there are to be made regarding Andrew Reynolds and a certain kind of papal infallibility, which include but are not limited to frontside nosebluntslides and kickflip form.” Boil the Ocean writes about Reynolds’ NB# shoe juxtaposed against the papacy and a DC Lynx colorway made famous by onetime pope of New Jersey, Brian Wenning.
“Sometimes the person you think is the biggest dick can be the loveliest person, and someone who is so nice to everybody can be kind of fucked up.” Mike Sinclair speaks some team manager wisdom alongside thoughts about his favorite photos and board graphics for Slam City Skates’ “Visuals” series.
📅 A 20 Of Regular, a NJ-scene video conjoined by a trifecta of Jersey shops (NJ, Travel + Underground), is premiering at The William Center in Rutherford this Saturday @ 7:30 P.M. Flyer here.
ICYMI: “More Highly Defined” might be the best Palace video in a minute. Includes Jahmir Brown’s pro part + the best batch of Rory Milanes footage since he swore off the San Miguel. But why are people talking about it as if it’s the first HD Palace video? The name? No tri-ferg titles? Because it’s not the first HD Palace video.
Loosies Corner 🚬 — Zubr compiled all the IG clips at the Tenant relocation jam at McCarren from two Saturdays back.
QS Sports Desk Play of the Week 🏀 — We at the Sports Desk are too pragmatic and have been around far too long (and watched Indiana in the Cavs series) to gloat over the Celtics elimination, but will say that this is the first Knicks team maybe in our entire tortured history as fans that we are never truly mad at. It’s the first case for cautious optimism in what feels like ever — not in a title necessarily, just in something superior to what we’ve otherwise only known. Emphasis on the word “cautious,” obvs.
Quote of the Week 🗣
[60something bartender distraught over simultaneous Yankees & Celtics losses]
Inquisitive Gentleman: “Wait, you’re a Yankees and Celtics fan?”
Bartender: “…I’m from Connecticut!”
[this wasn’t from Friday, btw]
This shit blew up to a point where you hear it out of actual cars in New York now and not just some random kid’s JBL speaker. Thought the sample was like some McKibbin lofts ass 2009 Pitchfork song, but it’s from four years ago. The fella can rap man.
Looks like Epstein from the back.
my brother in christ, you’re trying to recognize epstein from the back?
I can’t believe this is the place I learn about rap the kids are listening to. I think you guys might also be older than me. How do you keep up?!!?!?!
