“The thing is, if H&M knocks on the door tomorrow, buys the building out, we can’t do shit. We can’t win. But what we can do while we last is prove that we are trying.” WNYC profiled Kyota Umeki, and his family’s long-running St. Mark’s businesses, Search & Destroy and Kenka, which he runs with his brother. Cannot wait for Kyota to be mayor. [Related: Our interview with him from 2023, conducted on the eve of him opening the Star Shop before being old enough to buy a beer.] In hindsight, I feel bad for having a panic attack during Q2 of Game 4 while watching it at Kenka with everyone — because what better place to watch the greatest Finals comeback in history — but sometimes you need to stand two feet from your TV alone completely dehydrated, and hope the plane isn’t crashing 🤗 Thank you O.G. Anunoby, the most effective anti-anxiety drug / pilot.

EZ FUN” is the new video blog entry from Kader Sylla and Tristan Warren. Starts out with some New York stuff up through the Violet premiere some weeks back. That handrail on East Houston is bound to see a good number of visitors this summer ;)

R.B. Umali recreated the 2001 E.S.T.2 New York montage for his Go Skate Day recap the Banks. That montage is significant here because it was the last pre-9/11 footage of the Banks to ever be released… and kinda the last pre-9/11 NYC skate footy in general.

There’s a few solid New York clips in the Free Skate Mag-helmed “Bleed Out Spot” video. Front wallie into the rocks at Battery Park was wild. That dude Conor Charleson skates kinda like a burlier-looking Aaron Loreth.

Maurio McCoy has a quick New York trip edit for Stance, filmed at the Banks and L.E.S. Good reminder that even though everything has been done down the Banks 9, that shit is by no means small.

Jenkem profiled Lurker Lou and his journey sculpting VHS tapes, ice cream cones, and hot dogs out of marble and other stones + how he turned it into a sustainable career as an artist.

Our friends at Delivery Buenos Aires already have a new edit out that feels like the bonus footy to the Thrasher Argentina video from earlier this month 🇦🇷

Spot Updates 📍 — Mott and Broome bump is done. Shout out to @nycshawn’s tre flip.

Loosies Corner 🚬 — 8 minutes of Brooklyn Banks Go Skate Day loosies.

Quote of the Week 🗣 “We haven’t won in a hundred years and we’re still New York. We don’t need to win! It’s almost rude that we won!” — Sean Kinney on the Knicks title. (Yeah, second week in a row with a Knicks related Quote of the Week ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Jeans cost so fucking much I should wear ’em every day.
