Congestion Pricing But For Blue Park

When we interviewed Reda about the shot of Todd Jordan’s switch back tail in the weeks after 9/11, he mentioned wanting to complete the set of having the same shot of the Towers, no Towers, and the Freedom Tower. Pretty sure Mike Heikilla is the first one to snap a photo on this forgotten (?) Hoboken, New Jersey spot since the new tower was completed over ten years ago. Discussion of the Todd shot + the mission to get this one is featured in the Dick Rizzo “Headspace” video that Huf dropped last week.

Booyaka is a video by Patrick Lang showcasing the scene in Syracuse, New York, and includes the last-ever part from the late Andrew Grabowski ♥️

Scuba divers discovered 25 bricks of cocaine in the Florida Keys this week stamped with the Nike SB logo.

Bird Needs Another Hour

Jiro Platt, Noah Pollard and Kaue Cossa go off in Naquan Rollings’ latest edit, “$$$ JAM UP EDITION.” Pretty much all New York clips.

“America’s biggest pastime is baseball, and we have a baseball field that changed over to a historic skateboarding spot. That says a lot for the future.” Jenkem wrote The Oral History of Tompkins Square Park.

“When the news first broke about the Malmö project using materials from LOVE, the reporting made it seem as though all the materials that were salvaged were going overseas, so there was some damage control needed there. The reality was that it was only a relatively small amount of granite that made it to Sweden – some tiles and some blocks. All the most significant features were never going to leave Philadelphia.” Free got the full tale of the Love Park marble being taken to Malmö and incorporated into a public plaza.

Wish It Was Miami

Simple Magic compiled a list (with excerpts!) of 2023’s best skateboard writing, including Mr. Munzenrider’s QS story about skate shop tees + Mr. Carbonite’s annual Song of the Summer x Part of the Summer study.

“You just got white rice?” Stephan Singh has a sick edit out called “Drop Top Drippy” featuring some deeper spot digging than any ol’ local edit. That firecracker bank thing on Morris Avenue might be the most London-ass spot in all New York. Kickflip was the one.

IMPULSE is an Albany / upstate scene video by Chris Sendzik with parts from Cooper Qua, Jeremiah Gray, Yafay Towles and a great closing section from Nick Persico.

Footage Is Footage

You can’t jam the pole and then be mad people are skating the polejam ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Spitfire Wheels: Bringing People Together. Mark Gonzalez skates around downtown Manhattan with Max Palmer, Gus Gordon (!), Nick Matthews, Karim Callender + more. (Why does it always seem like everybody else’s downtown session if better than yours?) Really hope somebody got a photo of Karim’s crook at Rector Street. Almost made the screengrab the headline photo.

Price to Pay is a new Texas-based video by Andy Nguyen with a ton of New York footage in it. The whole crew makes a pilgrimage to the Canal Fountain, and there’s a Trung guest trick in there ;)

From a Shoelace Belt to the Movie Set

We went to this iconic chunk of New Jersey crust last summer, and somebody in the car was like, “I heard some Brazilian dude frontside flipped into this.” Didn’t doubt it, because, you know — Brazilian skaters — but wow. The footage dropped in Retta Skateshop’s Atemporal video that went live on Free last week. It’s in Rafael Gomes’ incredible closer part, which includes an ender at another famous nearby Jersey bank. *Prepares for somebody to say “Tony Macaroni from Lodi actually already frontside flipped into that in 1912.”*

Brianna Delaney has a new, all-Barcelona part out for Grand Collection and Converse. In a career full of incredible back tails, that ender still belongs in the hall of fame.

Our guy Rafael Pereira B.K.A. Haffa dropped a new part filmed on his travels throughout Latin America, with some impeccable switch heel form to close things out.

Hardbody Beast Coast Tour — Part 1.
