Ryan Mettz’s ‘Mettz Quest 2’ for Skate Jawn — A New One w/ Karim, Cyrus, Max, DREWWW, Nik & Them…

Had to check into the office real quick on a weekend because last night, Ryan Mettz dropped an edit for Skate Jawn that ticks every one of the QS boxes, and tugs at all of our heartstrings.

“Mettz Quest 2” is a peek behind many of the sessions that shaped John’s Vid, Paul Coots’ HIT Video, and Limosine’s Paymaster. Includes appearances from Cyrus, Karim, Max and them, plus video evidence of the Andrew Wilson back tail behind the Home Depot in Gowanus — the trajectory / physics of which make far less sense IRL than on video, perhaps even less-so now that the building chiseled out the quick-crete job on the barrier. Had trouble explaining that trick to a car of people scoping the spot out once.

Thanks Mettz! New Skate Jawn photo issue out now.

Everyone have a fabulous weekend ❤️

Summer QS goods arriving at U.S. shops now. Internationally in the coming weeks. Our webstore will relaunch this Friday, June 24th at noon E.S.T. with summer QS items for sale ❤️ Photo via Seasons.

Flex Tape is an 18-minute New York video by Blaine Williams, pretty much all filmed in New York. Aidan Spencer’s closer part rules. Skating that perma-windy Queensboro Bridge ledge at the start of a snowstorm takes wild dedication. Ending your day there typically results in hating life.

Skate Jawn‘s “Ramps Out Back” video series tells the story of the bowl in Holyoke, Massachusetts and the role it plays in that scene’s perseverance through harsh winters + gets into some sociological stuff that these old mill towns face when new industries reshape them. Our friends at Theory in Holyoke carry QS gear, btw ;)

Love this photo • Genesis Evans by Ryan Mettz ❤️

Has anyone coined the term “Boardwalk crust” yet? Like, it’s regular crust, but windier with more weathered wood. (The Pandora’s Box video, Vague‘s “Maritime” edit, and “Jacky Biarritz” are the most obvious recent examples.) Anyway, Devon Connell made a full-length video out of Atlantic City, NJ that fits the bill, and Skate Jawn has Jason Klotz’s part from it.

Some raw iPhone footy via Naquan and crew in anticipation of the summer.

Alex Greenberg uploaded a quick HD edit of a bunch of the Homies Network dudes.

Destroyed skater jeans. Pre-order now. $1,290. And here we were fretting about having raised the price of QS tees by $2 ☺️

“Forced into the wilderness for years first by cords, then by Dickies, Carharts and assorted chinos, jeans now are the stuff of kingdom-making and eternal glory.” And on that very same note, Boil the Oceans offers some analysis on how jeans have climbed to become the north star of the skateboard industry.

Leo Heinert + crew blitzed Black Hubba and threw a big contest on it a week ago. Flipping into a crook on that thing is nuts.

It’s wild that this thing reached a level of being skated-enough to where the city actually went out of their way to knob the ledge. This photo certainly does the spot the most justice out of all the coverage you’ve seen on it • 📸 Mike Heikkila on the photo, Thomas Dritsas on the board.

Enjoyed “Whistle” a lot — a Washington D.C. video by Eddie Gutierrez that at once feels nostalgic while firmly of the moment. A lot of unfamiliar faces to those outside the D.C. scene, though it’s hard not to wish you knew who some of them were (to the chagrin of the position that homie videos should have titles.) Skate Jawn has an interview with Eddie about the video’s creation as well.

Village Psychic has a part-by-part deep-dive of what it would take to make a sustainable skateboard.

9 hugs, 41 blunts, and 54 slams — 4Ply Mag went ahead and crunched the numbers on Shake Junt’s new video, Shrimp Blunt.

A half hour of Tyshawn loosies!
