“There also might be a slight difference in the value of technicality. I think a nollie crook means more to us out here than it may out west to you.” Heckride has a #longform interview with the man behind the lens of many of your favorite clips, Paul Young.

“Then I counted Tyshawn’s part and he only has 32 tricks in Blessed which was his S.O.T.Y. part. It made me realize that it’s not necessarily the quantity of tricks that makes a part good.” Korahn Gayle chats about some of his biggest influences for Slam City Skates’ “Visuals” series.

Can’t imagine many local residents are bummed about this, but something for the “Summer Trip to New York” video-makers to keep in mind: you’re not gonna have an easy time getting an Airbnb in New York.

Avec the Homie

John Shanahan starts a line by rolling off the amphitheater at the Citi Field benches, props a tile up to the second level of the CBS benches, and kickflips off the grate side over the Crosby Street bump-to-bar in his latest DC part, in case you haven’t caught it yet.

Everybody’s unloading their fakie 5-0 flip out clips at Big Screen now that the spot’s knobbed 😔 Jasper Stieve and Neema Joorabchi come through with a new one for Free, featuring watery gap to grinds and exemplary frontside heelflip form.

“I think it’s safe to say that the range for a proper ledge height in a skate park setting should be between 13 1/2 and 14 1/4 inches.” Dave Caddo went around the city measuring the dimensions of some of its most oft-skated ledges, from the 12-inch-high Reggaeton fence ledge or the 19-inch-high Flushing Meadows Park Ledges. “Fixed the spot, made it doable, and then did it.” The Warm-Up Zone (the proto-4Ply) still clocks into the office once a year for a Fred Gall recap. It may be March, and well past our cut-off for end-of-the-year wrap-up content, but it is, after all… Fred: the 2022 Freddy Year in Review.

Nico Marti, Trung Ngyen, Alan Bell, Zak Anders + pretty much the whole RESPECTFULLY squad spent some time in L.A. and came back with a 14-minute winter getaway edit.

Happy New Year 🍾

Tyshawn Jones was on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning last week. He says he’s retiring the can tricks.

Kei Tsuruta put out an extended end-of-the-year iPhone edit of all the Homies Network crew with reportage from Tompkins and beyond.

Monster Children has an interview with Naquan Rollings out.

Neema Joorabchi already released another video — not even a month removed from the release of “limp” in December. “Okay Then” dropped on the Transworld site just before the year timed out. Looks like the knob-job on the Crosby and Grand diamond-plate thing has already been conquered. Also, holy frontside flip at the Lily Pads.
