Despite all the good publicity we see about how skateboarding revitalizes downtrodden public spaces and brings life into neighborhoods, there is an alternate reality of people living inside of Death Wish 3 and afraid to leave their homes. Look no further than the comments on Rupert Murdoch’s coverage of the Banks reopening, which are so, so funny. (As is the shade on them putting “mecca” in quotation marks.) Top 3 Favorites: 1) “We should advertise to serial k1llers the location and unpatrolled hours of this rendezvous for purveyors of damage, nuisance, and vandalism.” 2) “I used to love going there. We had so much fun skating and shooting up drugs all night.” 3) “Yeah this’ll make real estate values go up….” [If there’s one issue plaguing this city, it’s definitely deflated real estate values in lower Manhattan.]
