“Maybe people want to see our videos, but they don’t really buy boards anymore, or they get free boards, or they don’t want to buy skate apparel or whatever; that’s all fine. I get it. But maybe they would be down to pay five bucks for a video, just to support it so that that person, their team or crew, can keep making them.” Simple Magic spoke to Grant Yansura on the eve of the UNC release to see if there’s any way you can make your money back on a video.

Griffin’s Skate Video is a 34-minute New York video from the same young crew that brought you the “Return of the Genius” edit from the spring, beautifully filmed on a potato. [And/or maybe a Y2K-era digi cam?] It is a blend of the lovingly absurd (e.g. drop-in’s off U-Haul trucks, whatever 1:35 is) and some incredible skating (that 5050 then wallride line at 135th and Riverside!) And if you’re the old-man-yells-at-cloud type (“I don’t get it! Is it …ironic?!”), please do remember that DLX was doing the same exact goddamn thing twenty years ago ;)

Tristan Rowean dropped a new part for Free by Neema Joorabchi. Heavy on the New York clips, and your legs will feel tired just watching the second-to-last Fort Greene trick. Paine Webber no-push ollie was insane, too.

2025? Waxing ledges was contagious. 2026? Hell Rides are contagious.

Solid bit of New York footage, including a marathon line at the Museum, in Denny Pham’s globe-trotting “Intersections” part that went live on Free last week.

Someone at the Late Nite Stars video department saw that Jiro concoction and decided it’s a good time to finally drop the montage of their crew on the “Stars of Midnight” obstacle. Cooper Winterson opens up the LNS montage on the most Cooper Winterson obstacle ever, and the set-ups only get wackier from there ;)

“I would love some …poke bowl.” Petar Stantchev spends some Euros on Skate Jawn‘s “$100 Chill” series. Didn’t know Barcelona just had wild boars running around the hills.

At Benihana’s Asking Where The Rice Went

The city is likely proceeding with building the skatepark in Mount Prospect Park after a long battle (there is one final meeting left on April 9), but at a reduced scale, “from 44,000 square feet to 19,500 square feet” — as revealed at the latest town hall. Looks like a transition-heavy design with some street on the side. Can we start holding hearings about getting a Born Plaza in this city before we’re all dead?

“Columbus Circle?” “No!!!” Feel much better about the future of street skateboarding in this city after watching Luca Mayer’s “$100 Chill” episode: they play S.K.A.T.E. inside subway stations, bumrush spots inside Wall Street offices, and then he spends most of his hundo on buying Bar Pitti for the gang. (QS is anti-Bar Pitti, but for reasons unrelated to Luca’s generous gesture.)

Free has a premiere of Garrett Boozer’s opening part in Matty Hilzenrath’s all-NJ video, A $20 Of Regular. All those Peaches lines + 5050 flip back tail + the flip back noseblunt bonk on the sewer cap + the fuckin’ nose manny nollie flip on the goddamn grate bridge = one of the best Jersey parts in recent memory. We’ll be premiering a part from it this week, and hardcopies of the full thing are due out soon.
