Lil’ Boosie was found not guilty on Friday. He’s still serving a maximum sentence of eight years for unrelated charges. DGB says his people claim he’ll be out in 12-18 months. Thankfully, he’s one dude who we don’t have to worry about signing to some garbage rap conglomerate when he gets out.

It would be great if The New York Times never ever ever wrote about skateboarding again. (This article from 2004 was cool though.)

Frozen in Carbonite dwells on parallels between soldiers and skaters, whether or not Jimmy Darmody from Boardwalk Empire would’ve skated in mid-’10s central Jersey, Heller’s Catch 22, the prospect of banging nurses on some Italian beach during WWII, an A-Team resurgence, Katy Perry, and other stuff.

Last week, Skateboarder ran a “25 Questions” feature with #PhatStylez co-founder, Jack Sabback. Ice coffee, switch shove-its, and Commodore nachos are all chill.

Bill Pierce’s part from the KCDC video is now online. The Juicy J skate part is still heavily trending in 2012. (Loosely related: “Girls who like Juicy J are the worst.” — Matt Mooney.) You can find some other parts from the video here.

Due to the song, this clip is a mandatory post. Hard to tell where it’s based out of, but the description was astute enough to acknowledge the song’s best line, so it doesn’t matter.

Jereme Rogers A.K.A. J.R. Blastoff was spotted at Tompkins and interviewed on a variety of subjects: making the world a better place, Audemars, “raising human consciousness,” Honda Civics being the dirty white tee shirts of cars, and Lurker Lou not saying “Hi” to him.

This may be old news, since people don’t skate there often and it took a while to notice, but you can’t skate the downhill curved ledge at the Guggenheim anymore. They fastened light fixtures to the top of it. Not the most popular spot, but definitely the best ledge there.

The Brooklyn Nets are likely destined for second-class status in this city like the other two franchises ending with -ets, and current-day Jay-Z might be easy to ignore, but shout out to him for using a Reasonable Doubt album cut and not some Watch the Throne garbage in this Marcy to Barclays commercial.

Party Heart

Boil The Ocean rightfully pointed out the insanity of the major skateboard-related headlines from the first week of the year — “Andy Roy Attempts To ‘Choke Out’ DMX Live Onstage” (even though it obviously wasn’t a choke out), “Jereme Rogers Arrested Following Nude, PCP-Fueled Hotel Rampage,” and “Brian Wenning Quits Selfish Skateboards Via Jereme Rogers Diss Track” (featuring a rapper with the same name as the Green Diamond video.) Looks like it’ll be a good year.

Who’s the genius responsible for this abomination of concrete work? Way to ruin one of the best ledges at the spot. Lurker Lou recomended the offender serve Jerry Duty: “The act of riding with Mraz, and looking out while he creates masterpieces.”

A lot more people would be filming New York subway clips if our subway stations looked anything like Sweden’s. Those high Scandinavian taxes really seem to go a long way.

It’s always fun to watch someone skate Los Angeles like it’s an east coast city.

An interview with Bill Pierce that discusses the “Busenitz of British music,” among other things. Also, Stripes is a great movie (and on Netflix Instant.) It’s kinda what we all imagined Miles’ military career to be like.

Spot Updates: 1) The black marble spot from last week’s post is already knobbed, which isn’t the least bit surprising. The entire time we were eyeing it, we assumed they’d knob it before even taking down the construction blockades. 2) Whenever the Museum of Natural History’s front plaza opens back up (it has been blocked off for restoration since summer 2010), it’s going to have some decent (by New York standards) handrails in front.

Allergic to Stupid Shit: Special Deluxe Holiday Edition

Around every April Fool’s Day, we have an idea to do a fake post about how Tompkins, 12th & A, the Tribeca park, etc. got knobbed. Ultimately, we get too lazy to procure fake photographs for such a post, but the real world may have just provided the closest thing to a knobbed skatepark you’ll ever see.

They have began knobbing the new Seaport ledges. Yes, the perfect concrete boxes with metal lips that are only otherwise seen in skateparks, and…well, nowhere else. The ledges at the northern end are the only ones knobbed as of today, but it would be safe to assume that they’ll make it to the rest of the plaza sooner rather than later. So much for waiting for construction to finish before they allow skateboarding there (not that anyone believed such lies to begin with.) Now would be a good time to do what Gino did, and get any remaining sessions/lines in before the spot is completely gone. And yes, you still get kicked out.

We have filed a handful of things under our “allergic to stupid shit” filter over the years, but this one probably takes the cake.

2011 was sick. New York’s best new ledge spot got knobbed in six months, the best spot in Midtown is unskateable, and the best psuedo-skate-spot-park is a wrap thanks to a bunch of dickheads who can’t walk two blocks to smoke weed somewhere that isn’t school property.
