No Venmo in Canada G!

Congrats to Marcello Campanello for going pro for Max Allure last week 🏆 Came across this loosies comp on YouTube just after it went down. Also, run back our interview with Marcello from a year ago in case you missed it, and maybe there’s another lil’ surprise due on here soon ;)

ICYMI: The teaser for Supreme and Bill Strobeck’s new video, Play Dead, dropped on Friday.

DUPLEX 4 coming soon. This YouTube review of DUPLEX 3 should get you hyped.

Crazy Ass Paterson Skaters posted the recap from their second “Land or Slam” event, where they just mob to street spots throughout Paterson, New Jersey giving out cash + product for tricks. It has the freeform feel of a skate contest from a distant past, just done for the sake of doing it. That tre flip into the kinked bank downtown and the one-foot hill bomb were wild 😮

‘DUPLEX 3’ — A Case Study In Pandemic-Era Productivity

It is no secret that the past two years have bolstered local skate videography, with crews and sometimes entire scenes hitting unprecedented strides in productivity. The Duplex boys began last year by dropping Duplex 2 — after which — they retired their VX, and released the HD “Sk8 Wing” and “Five-Six-One” in what felt like rapid-fire succession. It turns out that the best was yet to come with Duplex 3. Even in our fast times, this crew down in West Palm Beach (just a lil’ over an hour north of Miami) is operating on another level.

Jake Sanso Remix by Duplex

Last year had an interesting start: we were forced to contend with the fact that a pressure flip was the best trick of the week, much to the chagrin of the crowd that gets upset at those sort of things.

It was such a shock to the system that we began a [controversial?] debate with the idea that perhaps the pressure flip had began clawing its way to a newfound respectability. That clip was over the water gap at the famous MLK spot in Miami, and came via Jake Sanso’s part in the Duplex 2 video, the first in what would ultimately become a trilogy of 2021 Florida edits that stand out as some of last year’s best.

The crew switched to HD following Duplex 2 with “Sk8 Wing” and “Five-Six-One,” and was kind enough to share a remix of Jake’s footage from the two. He’s good at a lot of other things beyond being one of the few people who can make pressure flips look good ;)

It’s Basketball Season Baby!

Don’t let anyone ever tell you that it cannot be done.

“Worst style?” “Just go on the explore page. It’s like fishing with dynamite.” So hyped that The Bunt got the famous scientist, Charles Rivard PhD. on the show.

There’s no way you haven’t seen the new Mark Suciu part where the entire second half is him going off in New York, right? Five-trick line at Reggaeton with a nollie cab noseblunt, the front 3 switch back lip at JFK, etc. Wow.

Peepin Out The Window

Caleb’s pro! Photo via Genesis Evans. Caleb’s Bunt (from February 2020) is really good, btw.

“Couple manuals, couple flatground.” Imagine skating for 34 years and still being this fucking good. Pocket‘s latest “Followed” episode is with the goat Daniel Lebron. They really got the pacing of life thing figured out in Spain. Big love to the Mexican families in L.A. ♥

The Duplex dudes out of Florida have low-key been putting out some of the best independently-released, no media-outlet-backed videos of 2021. “Five-Six-One,” their latest, is absolutely no exception. That Leap of Faith clip over the lady is so wild, plus Jake Sanso goes off like usual. Peep their earlier releases: “Sk8 Wing” from May + “Duplex 2” from January.
