What an amazing idea for a feature… “‘Perfect Days’ will interview familiar faces in the Boston and Northeast scene, and pose them with the simple question: what was one of your favorite sessions ever?” The Orchard Skate Shop blog is following the footsteps of the Slam City Skates blog in creating good, old-fashioned web content outside the Insta-sphere. Kevin Coakley is the inaugural edition. (Fwiw, all-time favorite skate day around here is probably Yume Farm with *literally everybody* in fall 2018 ♥)

QS has been singing the praises of Antonio’s skateboarding for damn near a decade now (since the Tony days!), so it felt like due time for a refresher to prime everyone for bigger things this year ♥

This one was filmed by Lloyd Richards, and includes perhaps the first-ever three-trick ledge line at Borough Hall that doesn’t utilize the steps once, and the Pyramid Ledges trick that Dre just ~happened~ to catch on his iPhone last summer, which went on to dominate “did you hear”-discourse for the next month.

Also felt compelled to put the kickflip into the narrow bank at 181 in here, as someone has brought it up every time we’ve been there since, and I’m not entirely sure it has made it further than an IG story?

Anyone sitting there pouting and ready to type, “Well, is 2 minutes really a *part*?” would be well advised to watch it twice, because four minutes is definitely a part ;)

Though it’s far from the most #trending skate spot these days, a plan for the renovation and expansion of Union Square was unveiled last week. Just give us a couple République-style planters in the back, don’t kick us out of them, and the city can keep the next two skateparks they were gonna build. Thanks!

Anybody selling hard goods can attest to the “skateboard boom” that began in the lockdown months. People who had not picked up a board in years because life got in the way were buying new completes because, like, wtf else was there to do?

But what about those who never let life entirely get in the way of skating? For them, this past spring was a tidal wave of free time that no gainfully employed adult skateboarder thought they would experience until they were retired with bad knees. It was a pass to be 17 again, at least for a bit.

As outlined in 2019’s outing, Josh has been on a half-decade streak of filming parts mostly on his two days off from work a week. For a sizable chunk of 2020, there was no work, so this year’s is an extended edition — complete with cameos from some extended QS family members who haven’t popped up in an edit for deep.

Still waiting on Antonio Durao’s loading dock part…

Surprised that the one surviving Up Rail outside the impound in midtown isn’t more of a modern skate video fixture given the uptick of ride-on grinds. All that and more in volume six of Brad Cromer’s still predominantly New York-based “Storytime” video series.

Loved every minute of it! Kevin Taylor and the Scumco dudes toured through the backwoods and office plazas of Upstate New York for a fun new edit.
