Parallel Universe

Something about the blues in this one. George Morales in 1993, by Rick Kosick. Could’ve been yesterday! Spotted via Science Versus Life.

Limosine’s Paymaster video has been [officially] re-uploaded to YouTube.

Every spot in Politic’s “Blew By You” edit is either a jagged piece of cement, a crumbling Philly step, or shard of slanted metal that was welded 60+ years ago. Includes an incredible ender part from Japhey Dow. Still think about his three-level Heirloom ender often. Also: Ross Norman!

Skateism has a heavy but important interview with Brandon Turner about shedding the stigma of dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.

Bronze 56k corner: This is pretty much a minute-long Phil Rodriguez part, and these are some Gus Gordon B-sides ICYMI.

The week in phone footage loosie compilations: Kris Brown, Rowan Zorilla, another “Misc. Moments” from the Canal boys.

You’re already seen Jiro’s Thrasher part, right?

Japanese edit of the week comes from Ugly Weapon’s “Street Weapon Volume 3” video, filmed exclusively at night in tight, tiled quarters (mostly?) in Tokyo. Spotted via our friends at Place.

The Slam City Skates blog unarchived an interview with Mike Blabac and Josh Kalis from when they recreated the Love Park bump-to-can at Southbank. “You can go to New York City and there are plazas all over the place but no-one’s creating anything with it. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, it’s just a different mentality.” The last plaza we got didn’t turn out so well. Fun month, though :(

“Everyone is a professional skateboarder, or works for a skateboard company, or works for a different skateboard company, or is a skateboard photographer, or is a pioneer of skateboarding, or invented some crucial component of skateboards, or ran a skateboarding magazine, or doesn’t do any of that but can still kickflip.” The New York Times profile of Jason Acuña A.K.A. Wee Man is pretty great.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week 🏀 — Gonna throw a bone to the anonymous

Quote of the Week 🗣 “One time, I watched the sun rise at the Great Wall of China and skated flat at Tompkins in the same day.” — E.J.
