With “Five Faves,” there is a tendency for older skaters to lean towards classics like, say Mark Gonzales in Video Days, and there’s a tendency for some of our younger counterparts to lean towards, well, also Mark Gonzales in Video Days. But really, the vast diversity of the skateboard landscape is often reflected among people’s choices. Filmmaker Naquan Rollings proves to be such an example, where the late-period Transworld videos that were side-eyed by those who grew up on Modus find favor with a younger generation.

Zebra Week

The Quartersnacks Nike SB Dunk Low Pro will be available at skateshops in the U.S. + Europe on September 18. (Yes, the date got moved.) No, we will not be selling it on our webstore. We *will* have a few regular QS merch items that we did in conjunction with the shoe available soon. Photo by David Cabrera.

Stephen Ostrowski is pro for Glue! And has a new part! Always get so shook watching people skate that yellow wall rail thing at Long Island University because of how close your head is to the barbed wire. Fully yelled at the screen when Stephen ducked under it. Also includes a beast varial heel courtesy of Cooper and his shenanigans ♥ (P.S. The Ether section at Three Up Three Down is still office-favorite viewing.)

No Days Off Except Most of Them

Summer 2021 QS stuff arriving at U.S. + Canada shops now. Tracking is saying it should be at all west coast shops (Atlas, 35th North, etc.) by the end of this week (June 18.) On the webstore next week. Europe, Australia, Japan, et al. next week. Photo via Seasons.

E.J. made a Reebok.

Manhattan Times has an article about the Washington Heights skate community coming together to celebrate the life of fellow skater, Gerardo Rivas, with a skate jam at J Hood and hill bomb uptown. (You might remember the “FOR G” tribute video by Jordan Miller that was linked a few weeks back.) Jordan also made a video of the memorial + event, and it has a lot of familiar faces ♥

Monster Children has an interview with Naquan Rollings.

Grand Reopening

Naquan Rollings has a new 16-minute video up on Thrasher. Mostly footage from trips out west, but a few New York clips in the middle. Marcello’s trick on the Joe’s Pizza Park thing was rad.

This story is crazy, sad, unbelievable: three men died early on Saturday morning after speeding past an intersection into the dead end street that contains the L.I.C. D.I.Y. spot. The car apparently went over the barrier, through the woodsy zone, and was submerged into Newtown Creek.

Anyone know if Little Island has spots yet? Jk, jk — that’s a rhetorical question. They prob won’t even let you in there with a board ;)

Like Whoa

Send Za” is the latest New York edit from videographer Eryk Burton. Ender nollie heel at the new spot everyone’s been getting yelled at is wild.

“I always liked no complies, even when they weren’t cool.” Love these — “Watching Jerry Fowler with Jerry Fowler” is the latest in Village Psychic’s “Watching” series, and it’s about his Continuum part. Glad that he likes it, because it rules ♥ Doing one of these with Jahmal about his section would be just as rad :)

The union bosses at Hit You Off Management re-saturated and remixed some of Dick Rizzo’s Grand Prairie clips.
