An Antwuan Dixon sighting, an excellent video out of the U.K. (with some hall-of-fame line choreography), and an obvious #1 — in a week that had 22 countdown suggestions on the board in the QS office breakroom.

Nobody is mistaking today as any sort of golden age for public space. The “granite cathedrals” that Village Psychic wrote about are at the mercy of time and preservationists, and for our particular case, whether some crusty building manager wants to knob them.
Live long enough and cultivate an interest or two outside of skateboarding, and you can begin to separate your skate-brain from your other-brain. That other brain doesn’t need to go to design school to deduce that the new Love Park sucks, or something as insignificant as that corner of Spring and Sixth is a fucking horrendous place to invite the public to spend their time in.

Has anyone coined the term “Boardwalk crust” yet? Like, it’s regular crust, but windier with more weathered wood. (The Pandora’s Box video, Vague‘s “Maritime” edit, and “Jacky Biarritz” are the most obvious recent examples.) Anyway, Devon Connell made a full-length video out of Atlantic City, NJ that fits the bill, and Skate Jawn has Jason Klotz’s part from it.
Some raw iPhone footy via Naquan and crew in anticipation of the summer.
Alex Greenberg uploaded a quick HD edit of a bunch of the Homies Network dudes.

We were out in Montreal last week for the first time since COVID on account of E.T’s pro thing. Staying downtown, you see a ton of the spots made famous by Dime videos, but the ones tied to Alexis Lacroix’s expanding-brain approach to skateboarding maybe stand out the most, especially after not seeing them IRL for 2 1/2 years.
Everyone has a “feel good” song, movie, whatever — something that coincides with a smile no matter what else may be going on in life. Even in the expanse of endless skate content, watching Alexis (the 2019 Q.S.S.O.T.Y.) remains a singular experience of juggling laughs, dropped jaws, and wtf’s.
Though he has lightened up on the eponymous “Oh yeah!” (the origin of which he explained in this post, in addition to his Bunt interview), the three years since we last compiled a Dime Comp have come with more skancing, more skating in the snow, and the occasional cameo from Alexis’ baby daughter ❤️

A couple flowy lines and a couple long noseslides in this otherwise slow week around the QS office. Back on it after the long weekend. Have a good one ❤️
