QS x Cons Available March 1 🏀

Vague has a premiere of Brian Powderly’s Static 6 part. Ollieing into that smudge of asphalt on the other side of the Ridgewood Reservoir spot is, as they say, ~completely unhinged~.

Vague also sat down for an extended video chat with three of the principal filmers behind the Static series to talk all the things that skate videographers talk about 🧠

Another Vague link?! Yes, another Vague link: they interviewed Hopps teamrrider and QS office favorite, Kyler Garrison.

You gonna buy the $990 Celine skateboard?

Quit Sinnin” is a 15-minute New York video by Stephan Signh, with a bit of S.F. towards the end. Lots of spot inspo for warmer days :)

“It also is a return to form for Mike Carroll’s voiceovering, the years seeming to have slightly weathered his sound but his noun and verb and adjective selection still in top form.” Boil the Ocean weighs in on the Neils Bennett part. Favorite New York trick in that was the switch 5050 into the long steps on Riverside Drive.

No Time To Blog

Feels kinda crazy starting a QS update without a picture of Keith… Was tempted to use some of Pat Steiner’s modern art masterpieces this week, but we have a whole year-end content season for that! ;)

Jawn Gardner leads the charge on an important message with a nine-minute documentary about shedding the stigma of discussing mental health issues in the skate community ♥

On the chance that you haven’t been catching the …Arizona Iced Tea skate team edits on the TWS site (..yeah!), some of the most insane skateboarding in New York released this year was via their trip edit, e.g. the back tail off the marble kicker, the switch frontside flip across from the Stock Exchange, etc. TWS just posted up the first two raw edits from it, and wow it is crazy to look back at how desolate the city was last fall.

Any week when you have two full-length local videos both exceeding 30 minutes is a special week…

Suppy is an HD video by Dylan Holderness and Evan Pacheco, filmed largely in Brooklyn, with an insane ender at the spot that everyone has been getting yelled at by mean security guards for the past month.

Irish Wrist Watch is a SD video by John Clodfelter, filmed around the city with some Jersey clips in between. It’s amazing how watching someone roll away from their first two-stair ollie can lead to more vicarious joy that any number of wild tricks you see on IG every day.

J.R. Smith Already Without A Shirt

QS is by no means a Laker enterprise — just trying to be supportive of any and all events that lead to joy in the life of shirtless icon, J.R. Smith. Also L O L L L L L L at him having as many titles as the entire New York Kn*cks franchise.

Theories caught up with a bunch of New York skaters to ask about their spot hunting stories from the initial COVID shutdown in the city. Those days when Natural History, CBS and Big Screen were all a go at once were magic amongst the shit ♥

Alex Klein wrote a piece on his friendship with Keith Hufnagel over on GQ.

Lurker Lou’s new part, “Lou Flowers” is now live ♥
