No Days Off Except Most of Them

Summer 2021 QS stuff arriving at U.S. + Canada shops now. Tracking is saying it should be at all west coast shops (Atlas, 35th North, etc.) by the end of this week (June 18.) On the webstore next week. Europe, Australia, Japan, et al. next week. Photo via Seasons.

E.J. made a Reebok.

Manhattan Times has an article about the Washington Heights skate community coming together to celebrate the life of fellow skater, Gerardo Rivas, with a skate jam at J Hood and hill bomb uptown. (You might remember the “FOR G” tribute video by Jordan Miller that was linked a few weeks back.) Jordan also made a video of the memorial + event, and it has a lot of familiar faces ♥

Monster Children has an interview with Naquan Rollings.

Grand Reopening

Naquan Rollings has a new 16-minute video up on Thrasher. Mostly footage from trips out west, but a few New York clips in the middle. Marcello’s trick on the Joe’s Pizza Park thing was rad.

This story is crazy, sad, unbelievable: three men died early on Saturday morning after speeding past an intersection into the dead end street that contains the L.I.C. D.I.Y. spot. The car apparently went over the barrier, through the woodsy zone, and was submerged into Newtown Creek.

Anyone know if Little Island has spots yet? Jk, jk — that’s a rhetorical question. They prob won’t even let you in there with a board ;)

Watch Michael Nicholas’ Untilted video if you have yet to do so.

Twelve minutes of Nik Stain B-sides + loosies via Zubr.

“Through It All” is a rad 11-minute New York edit from James Vail. Blackbyrds on any skate soundtrack is getting posted here :)

“I’ve died a thousand times but I’m still alive.” The Warm Up Zone wrapped up its series of Fred Gall tributes. Truly blessed to share the 2020 internet with a “new” blog dedicating half-a-summer to writing #longform posts about every crevice of Fred Gall’s career ♥ Fuck starting an Instagram, everyone write a paragraph.

These Days & Times

The predictions were true. The quarantine has everyone inside making #content — this was one of the most extensive link lists for a Monday update in a while. How sustainable it is? Who knows. Boil the Ocean is already speculating on what will happen if we enter a COVID-19 induced footage drought, e.g. will Thrasher be forced to only post “Classics” videos like how ESPN plays old games during off-seasons.

Until then…

Hard Post

Fall QS merchandise is arriving at U.S. & Japanese shops now. Check your local shop’s IG for availability, and our stockists page for a local QS dealer (that page actually needs to be updated, tbh.) Arriving in Canada, Australia and Europe this week and next. Fall 2019 gear will be available in our webstore next Monday, October 28th @ midnight E.S.T. (So technically Sunday night.)

You have 72 hours left to vote in the QS Readers Survey about the best parts and full-length videos of the 2010s. We’ll have the results for you in November ♥

Merry Christmas from Ben Chadourne, creator of the QS office’s two favorite Paris edits: his latest is ten minutes long, entitled “BOOM,” and features just about everyone you’d expect to see in a Ben Chadourne Paris edit. (“Paul is ok.”)
