Zahbas in LALA — Stafhon, Coles & Zach for Alltimers x Vans

To celebrate the launch of the Alltimers x Vans Zahba shoe, Justin Stout (of Rascal video fame) whipped together this quick L.A. trip edit of Stafhon Boca, Coles Bailey and Zach Baker — shot between the bomb cyclone in the northeast and the gnarly January rain out in California. (The shoe itself feels like a legit version of the Vans Air Force Ones that anybody who visits Japan for the first time absolutely loses their shit over. Something for the cup sole heads.)

Also heard that John Choi was on some of these sessions, but that footage is being kept top secret until the time is right ❤️

The shared output of Dick Rizzo and Paul Young is cine-literature — one with touch points and tributes surrounding many of what we could call “heritage” east coast texts.

We touched on exactly that in regards to the pair’s Hi8 Half Cab project for Vans last summer. However, we took the investigation further, digging through the tapes and speaking to both Richie and Paul about the nuance, folklore, cellar doors and sessions with Uncle Freddy that underwrite their ode to what came before.

This past Saturday, Fucking Awesome and Vans sponsored a few new obstacles (designed by A.V.E. + built by Kevin Graver) and threw a junk jam at Tompkins with Father Bop handing out cash for tricks until it ran out. Majorca For Nothing in Print

Travel writing around here has been sparse since the pandemic, but our friends at Free Skate Mag posted up the full trip article + Alex Pires’ photos from our Majorca excursion on their website. (It appeared in the most recent print issue.)

This one was special because it was the first time many of us had traveled outside the U.S. since the before time, and we were blessed with the fact that it didn’t rain the entire trip, nobody got injured, we barely got kicked out of any spots, and the craziest trick of the entire trip (Nick’s 5050 on the blue wave spot, which we actually did keep getting kicked out of) was at the last stop of the last day.

Came To Majorca For Nothing

Man, 8:15 might be long for a trip edit in our era of torched attention spans — but, hear me out — the majority of the crew from the Sicily trip spent the past two years cooped up stateside. And, AND, AND — the first time we made it out to Europe, Majorca was kind enough to bless us with no rain for ten days straight… we came back with a fuckin’ 30+ minute raw timeline 😲

Also, Justin and Nick went pro since that last trip, and pros stack 😈

Some of that 30+ minutes is chilling with horses, some of it was goofing around in an out-of-season water park, and all of it was at spots that Brady had been to throughout his ten times (seriously, ten) of visiting Majorca since the Blueprint days. Wrote a more extensive thing about it in the current issue of Free, which they’ll put online eventually ;)
