The homie got doored on a Citibike the other night by an apologetic Williamsburg drunk, and broke his foot. And in Andrew and Spitfire’s new collab video, “Spitfye,” Josh Wolff’s opening line …woooof. Fuck. Not to get all mom on everyone, but nobody wants to be laid up all summer after getting smoked for not paying enough attention on the road, so yaknow, keep an eye out there. Not everyone’s getting well-wishing from Jeff for a miraculous recovery like Wolff.
Cannot imagine that many people have the ten-year anniversary of a random web video pinned on their calendar, but it should be pointed out that the Johnny Wilson x Nike SB “CORE” edit celebrates its tenth birthday this week. “CORE” was a watershed moment around the hallways of the QS office. The brand that sponsored Ishod, P-Rod and Koston corralled a bunch of early-20-somethings shredding New York and uploading it to a filmer’s video page, added in a young Pulaski legend undergoing a career renaissance, a Danish ledge lord, an Australian with a beautiful voice, and a teenager who had already switch flipped over Blubba — and sent them on a low-stakes, one-van trial trip through Upstate New York. (Fun fact: did you know that on paper for the powers that be, the trip was billed as a Nike SB Apparel trip?)
The resulting pilot video was a success, and the subsequent projects that built on this formula became a focal point of the QS newsroom in the ensuing decade.
But perhaps most important — as we sit here ten years later — is that everyone featured in that video, particularly the nucleus bound by those Johnny Wilson Vimeo uploads is doing …great.

Spitfire Wheels: Bringing People Together. Mark Gonzalez skates around downtown Manhattan with Max Palmer, Gus Gordon (!), Nick Matthews, Karim Callender + more. (Why does it always seem like everybody else’s downtown session if better than yours?) Really hope somebody got a photo of Karim’s crook at Rector Street. Almost made the screengrab the headline photo.
Price to Pay is a new Texas-based video by Andy Nguyen with a ton of New York footage in it. The whole crew makes a pilgrimage to the Canal Fountain, and there’s a Trung guest trick in there ;)

If the front skatepark section of the B.Q.E-adjacent park is Zered Park, then the back, basketball court street section is definitely Leo Park, as evidenced by the new Leo Baker Spitfire part.

Jake Kuzyk’s new one is called “Kick Back,” and is effectively a sequel to Courtesy, except this time for Spitfire instead of Vans. Features most of the Alltimers team, Chris Milic, Diego Todd, Nick Michel, and Jed Anderson. Dustin’s three-trick line at the brick bank in downtown Vancouver is fire.
