“That person next to you — whatever thing wrong you might have with them, it might be big or small — let that shit go. It doesn’t matter.” ♥♥♥
Long distance relationships are never easy, and to help soothe the heartache, Jesse Alba made a full surprise Nolan Benfield part with cameos from Cyrus ‘n them.
The full, 38-minute NY/NJ-based Sportsmanshit video is now live via Skate Jawn. A lot of “totally forgot about that spot”-reactions watching this one. Very fun, the whole way through :)
Just because you’re a thorn in the side of every skater guy yelling at a cloud on the internet, doesn’t mean you can’t MS Paint art direct your way into having friends in high places. Facing the dilemma of promoting a Nike SB collaboration with limited Nike SB riders on their amphibious roster, the Frog team called in a couple favors.
They borrowed Numbers’ Antonio Durao (apparently on his way home moonlighting at a catering gig, so the answer to the age-old question of “how much do you pay Antonio?” is “not enough”), 917’s Nolan “Every Time He Focuses A Board, That’s $20 Out Of Alex Olson’s Pocket” Benfield, Stingwater C.E.O. Daniel Kim + several others who consistently gyrate around the Frog universe, but earn their check elsewhere — and headed down to Atlanta.
After millions of dollars spent on airfare and accommodations, nearly a full day of traveling over sea and land, and much meticulous planning that it takes to get dozens of boys across the Atlantic, we were in Paris asking the immortal question that guides our lives: “Where are we gonna skate today?”
About 70% of the way through the trip, Nolan revealed that the only reason he swam to Paris (he’s not a big fan of planes) was for the purpose of skating the famous colored manual pad spot seen in a myriad of skate videos growing up. Much to his dismay, when those “where are we gonna skate today?”-convos were taking place and the spot would get mentioned, the proceeding thoughts were familiar…
“I think that’s still under scaffolding?”
“Are there other spots around there?”
“It’s not as good as it looks in videos.”
“We gotta take a train to get there…I kinda wanted to push around today.”
See, it doesn’t matter where you are, or how many new spots you haven’t grown bored of skating you’re surrounded by. The struggle is real no matter where you go. The only difference is you might not be able to kick it with Sophie that day.
Watch below to see if we made it, or if we did in fact, come to Paris for nothing.
YouTube blocked the video is Canada on account of the fire George Michael song. Canadians!!! Here is a Vimeo link.

This bench has made a long journey from Delancey Curb, to the front of a Rivington Street pizza restaurant, and eventually, back to its rightful community at T.F. — though none of us have been there since Thursday, and also the D.A. softball league is back, so it might be up in heaven now.
Tony Choy-Sutton has a rad new video entitled “Gas,” which features John Gardner, Franco, Pat Gallaher, and a part from Sean Frederickson full of scary spots.
Was kind of wondering how long it’d take for an all-Borough Hall part to come along. Would be shocked if someone wasn’t working on an all-Borough Hall video right now too. (Also, seeing 2k18 American footage of people doing a line at a real street spot with dozens of skaters chilling on some steps in the background is ♥♥♥)
While sifting through a box of random skate DVDs, I remembered I had these two nineties Boston videos, the earlier one of which includes a Jahmal Williams part from literally 27 years ago. Just uploaded to YouTube here.
“In the never-ending Instagram demo, perhaps the pro daily dribbling out indifferently phone-filmed park clips is not some navel-gazing lazy, tossing half-baked bones to his or her followers while too hungover to step to street spots.”
“There’s something modest to his skateboarding, in that he can realistically do anything, but rarely rolls away with flair or arrogance. It’s a very polite way to ride a skateboard.” A guy with the same name as a former Cons pro offers up a review on the Cons video, which — if you haven’t been on the internet all weekend — is now online.
The Gristedes on 96th Street closed down, which means you can now skate the bank in front of it that only Jaws otherwise skated in some Weed Maps clip…idk dude ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: This is one of those weeks where if it didn’t go to Lebron, it’d just look like some full hater shit. So it’s going to Lebron.
Quote of the Week: “This is a pretty sweet spot. It reminds me of Germany…not that I’ve ever been to Germany.” — Nolan Benfield re: a French restaurant in France
