‘Did you see Ty & Josh’s clips from the Depeche Mode concert?’

Still got some loose sizes of holiday QS gear on sale in the webstore ⛵️ Thanks for supporting what we do :)

“I tell Bill all the time, ‘I don’t have that many video parts left in me.'” Farran Golding profiled Tyshawn Jones and Bill Strobeck for GQ.

We were out in Argentina last month, and were lucky enough to get shown around by Eze Martinez (Milton’s brother, yes.) He’s got an incredible section in the new Cons Argentina edit. There’s something extra fun in watching siblings who skate at absolute opposite ends of the skate spectrum excel in their respective corners at this high of a level. (No Milton footy in this video though.)

“Fixed the spot, made it doable, and then did it.” The Warm-Up Zone (the proto-4Ply) still clocks into the office once a year for a Fred Gall recap. It may be March, and well past our cut-off for end-of-the-year wrap-up content, but it is, after all… Fred: the 2022 Freddy Year in Review.

Nico Marti, Trung Ngyen, Alan Bell, Zak Anders + pretty much the whole RESPECTFULLY squad spent some time in L.A. and came back with a 14-minute winter getaway edit.

Happy New Year 🍾

Tyshawn Jones was on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning last week. He says he’s retiring the can tricks.

Kei Tsuruta put out an extended end-of-the-year iPhone edit of all the Homies Network crew with reportage from Tompkins and beyond.

Monster Children has an interview with Naquan Rollings out.

Neema Joorabchi already released another video — not even a month removed from the release of “limp” in December. “Okay Then” dropped on the Transworld site just before the year timed out. Looks like the knob-job on the Crosby and Grand diamond-plate thing has already been conquered. Also, holy frontside flip at the Lily Pads.

The Best Skate Videos & Parts of 2022 — QS Readers Poll Results

Ballot Count by 4Ply Magazine

It seems that the impossible has happened: we’ve tallied a QS Readers Poll, and there’s no Tom Knox in sight 😲😲😲

All jokes aside, beyond light output from Mr. Knox in 2022, this is perhaps the year that the multiple part approach wielded by S.O.T.Y. hopefuls began to adapt itself to people’s recollections of the past twelve months. Whereas in past years, when multiple releases tended to split the vote in clear favor of one over another, 50% of this year’s Top 20 parts are from the same five people.

Also worth noting that the point spread between slot #14 and slot #10 for single parts was four points. Maybe we introduce a runoff feature next year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The #1 video was a landslide.

If you are just joining us, this ranking was voted on by QS readers from December 5th to December 9th

Better Late Than Never — Frozen in Carbonite Presents: Song of the Summer x Video Part of the Summer 2022

[Ed. note — Wish Young Nudy dropped “My Gang” in late May. Any video that begins with the boys cutting their pants into shorts and hitting Biscayne Bay on jetskis is a bonafide summer anthem. Leaving this headliner as a tribute to the summer that could’ve been ❤️]

Words by Frozen in Carbonite

The world is a different place from the one in which I started this series a decade ago (not gonna go into all the ways here.) In my second summer of not drinking, I set out to find a new location to vibe out; the local bar wasn’t hitting like before.

So, I regularized my gym’s rooftop pool. For some reason, my gym has a pool on the roof in addition to the indoor lap facility. Although not as sick as those famous NYC rooftop hotel pools, it’s still pretty dope. Most importantly, the ratio at any given time of day is roughly the opposite of the one at your average skate function.
