This Memorial Day Weekend also commemorates four years since QS relaunched as a modern, somewhat frequently updated enterprise. Prior to that (2005-2010), it was a depository of inside jokes that got updated bi-weekly. It has sometimes been a struggle to keep this thing current during those four years, but it’s been fun. Four years is a long time — when the site relaunched, Waka was the most #relevant rapper out, our intro post had Jersey Shore references, Amare Stoudemire played for the Suns and they were in the Western Conference Finals, and Monday Links happened on Saturdays — so we’d like to pat ourselves on the back a bit. We’d also like to thank you for visiting, talking shit in the comments, and any kind words or referrals throughout the years.

Hard to even remember what life was like before Future.

Though both had separate remix videos in the past year, here is a dual part of Kevin Tierney and Black Dave sourced from their King of New York footage. These dudes have come a long way since Trife*, the yellow Osiris hoody (never going to let that one go, it’s too iconic, sorry) and Globe flow days. Great to see them traveling about and still killing harder each and every year.

Chapman, New York’s longest standing skateboard producers, relaunched their website. It features an awesome archive of past boards, ranging from old Zoo decks, Supreme art boards, the short lived Illuminati Skateboards, and others.

SkateZines.com is a new project from the crew behind SkateAndAnnoy.com, which puts itself to the seemingly impossible task of cataloging all available skate zines of today and info on where to obtain them.

Kevin Tierney: The Mad Bodied Edit

Late night Friday updates are turning more into a #thing. This one is for all the people out there getting mad bodied. Switch front shoves forever ♥♥♥

We chopped up Kevin Tierney’s Outdated part and his past three years’ worth of Zoo York footage alongside French (via one of very few notable Washington D.C. rap singles) and Mary J. The Mary part was mostly to pay tribute to the fact that two of the best instances of music supervision in skateboarding — Shiloh Greathouse in Trilogy and R.B. Umali’s believed-to-be lost post-9/11 montage that appeared on Conform.tv — were edited to her music. (If you have that R.B. montage on your computer, e-mail it over and we’ll send you a care package.) Otherwise, Kevin is mad nineties, so we kept the necessary vibez in tact. Shit is mad brolick. Oh, and check his Solo Jazz part for newer footage.

One of two native New Yorkers on Zoo York’s skate program has a six-page interview in the latest issue of The Skateboard Mag (A.V.E. cover), thus graduating from past “check out” status. He discusses frequent usage of the word “brolick,” though does not address other oft-used catchphrases like “mad bodied” and “o.d.” Photographs by Brian Kelley and Sean Cronan at some atypical New York spots. Kevin hasn’t been down since day one, but he’s been down since the first “End of Summer” clip (probably the 7th one overall), which was pretty damn near day one. It’s good to see him getting some proper shine on a national platform.

We’ve been working on a re-edit of this dude’s past few years of footage, but that’s coming along slower than expected. In any event, watch his part in Solo Jazz (8:16 mark.) If you’ve burnt a figurative hole through that video from repeated viewings, his all-midtown segment in the 2010 Christmas clip has always been an office favorite.
