Congrats to Mr. Nick Michel for winning the 2024 Quartersnacks Cup 🏆 and to everyone who came out on Saturday afternoon. Hoping to make this an annual event, so see everyone next year :) Full recap vid will go live later this week.

The Rent Is Too Damn High is a KCDC Skateshop video by Abi Teixeira, released in commemoration of the shop closing up its N 3rd Street location after having been a fixture in Williamsburg for two decades — long before the neighborhood was what you know it as today. Features a wide net of KCDC’s riders throughout the years. KCDC is continuing online operations as they look toward the future.

Labor’s Brooklyn location is having a big sale as they consolidate down to just the Manhattan location. Be sure to check their IG for abridged BK store hours before you make the trek though.

Maybe it’s the interview in the middle, but this has big 2000’s video magazine New York montage-vibes (yes, once upon a time, that was a rare thing for #skatemedia): PFP videographer Mike Sassano has a ten-minute New York montage over on the Transworld site with footage from Jeremy Murray, Matt Militano, Niels Bennett and more.

Elisa Martini released her debut part for KCDC Skateshop via Skate Jawn. A fire noseslide, all New York clips, with some guest clips from the rest of the KCDC crew. Fantastic work.

Stephan Singh has a quick new montage of his crew. Really dope to see people still getting clips at Big Screen despite all odds.

“There’s a new emphasis on personality, and people want to know who the person is and the context of that person. Love when videos from younger crews go in on midtown spots. “Cockeyed” by Jack Held is a new video mainly filmed in New York with a Miami clip here and there. Back tail down the U.N. hubba and back lip down the tall-ass World Trade rail were crazy.

The YouTuber formerly known as Juicy Elbowz (but currently known as Jesse Alba) dropped a watermarked masterpiece of iPhone footage featuring himself and other Frogian acolytes.

“Before I ever started skateboarding, I played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. I remember doing wallrides on the game and thinking it was just impossible like it was something only possible in the game.” Heckride interviewed Akwasí Owusu. (Usually when someone has an interview with QS scheduled and it’s timed so close to another one the person just had come out, we fall back. Shout out to Heckride for mentioning the Village Psychic one upfront, and using it to begin the interview altogether. The two came out nothing alike, so shout out to them for that, too ❤️)

Big Parts Unknown vibes in this: Pocket‘s latest installment of its “Followed” / day-in-the-life-esque series trails the samosa vendor from MACBA for a day. This entire piece is so so good, and really shines a light on how essential these peripheral figures at spots are to skate culture. Can’t wait for more. Shout out the the Flushing empanada lady. Shout out to the Brooklyn Banks Burger King, the Love Park Wawa, at al.

Week late, but on the slim chance that you haven’t seen Tristan Mershon’s Fool’s Gold video, filmed in predominantly non-obvious corners of New York, please do. The last two parts are especially incredible, and the curtain-call filming is brilliant. “What’s your spot-finding method?” “Lurking, really.”
