Friends With Fred

“Never give up. Stick with it and keep trying. Don’t get discouraged by shitty attitudes. Just keep going, man. Don’t look back… And stay off hard drugs.” Fred Gall, 2019. Not sure who shot this photo? Maybe Mehring? Photo by Reda.

Figure there is zero chance anybody who is a QS Monday Links reader would not have already seen Fred Gall’s “Spiritual Healing” part, but it would also be sacrilegious to not mention it.

“You needed to bring a mattress there ’cause you run right into a brick wall and you’ll die without a mattress.” Thrasher also posted up Brian Anderson’s interview with Fred Gall.

…aaannndddddd The Warm-Up Zone — the internet’s leading Fred Gall scholars — compiled a recap of the past 18 months of Freddy’s achievements leading up to the part.

It’s a week with both a Naquan and a Johnny YouTube upload ⚱️

Promaster — Limosine Skateboards, 2022

Limosine Skateboards just dropped their first piece of #longform #content since the inaugural Paymaster video from last holiday season (obvs a favorite for 2022* year-end accolades on account of the timing, a la John’s Vid last year.) It includes plenty of fanfare for those who’ve been following these dudes’ path to running their own company: at least a face-shot of everyone you’d expect in a late-period Johnny Wilson HD video blog (Mitchell!), Max Palmer finding a way to pinch a front crook on a ledge that extends two-inches from a wall, and Cyrus bringing this one out of a skatepark and into the streets.

But the real stars are Nelly Morville — Paymaster‘s breakout part who has a whole new one here — and the newly pro Hugo Boserup rocking the best 90s bowl cut since Eric Lloyd.

Took Some Thousand Dollar Pants & Cut ‘Em Into Shorts

The Top 10 desk would like to thank Sour Skateboards for the vacation it is taking for the rest of the week. Sour Solution III is now live.

Getting your pro board thrown into your skull and having to spend the rest of the premiere celebrating while bleeding from the head is a new one. Sk8 or die taken to its logical extreme. Maybe it was just out of solidarity with Giannis ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

QS B.F.F. Zered Bassett was on the Angel & Z podcast last week. There’s a bit of graffiti talk at the start, but it gets into skating about ten minutes in. A lot of wisdom and honesty from one of the first few to truly do it at that level on the east coast. Also, the Greece story is insane.

It’s Only a Movie — Limosine Skateboards’ ‘Paymaster’ Video

Over the past year, those who traffick in skate rumors have been possessed by the question of where the roster of the 917 team would land. The lead rumor was that they all went off to start their own endeavor.

There are few videos held in as high esteem around the QS office as the first two 917 projects, so we are pleased to report that much of the line-up has stuck together — Logan behind the lens and edit included — to bring you Limosine Skateboards, and their first video, Paymaster. Nelly Morville, Santino Gagliarducci and Karim Callender are the new additions. (Stoked on there being a team with a Nelly and a Genny on it 😎)

But Make It Fashion

Ok, let’s try this again: The Quartersnacks Nike SB Dunk Low Pro will be available at skateshops in the U.S., Canada + Europe on this Saturday, September 18. We will not be selling them on our webstore. Some other territories have already began selling them. We will be giving some pairs away on QS social channels — stay tuned. We will have a small round of new mainline QS items going live in our webstore at 11 A.M. E.S.T. on this Friday, September 17. (That stuff is also available through a select batch of U.S. shops.)

In the meantime, shorts + some other summer stuff is on sale in the webstore, so stock up for your warm winter getaway ;) thanks everyone for the support.

There’s no way you haven’t seen the Dime x Vans video yet, right? Hugo Balek = Jake Johnson. Ben Blundell… 🎶 That Ben is a real crowd pleaser 🎶

~*Keep video blogz w3ird*~ The fifth installment of Josh Paynter’s Monday Links-fave video blog series continues to focus on the weird spots in this city (+ Soho curbs obvs.) Shout out to everybody not skating the same shit as the rest of us — it’s a lot of work.
