Triple Kink

The new Blue Couch edit is their best one yet — a lot of which is just filmed in the vicinity of the 125th Street Fairway? Never realized those inch-high curbs at Grants Tomb were a doppelgänger for the London ones Tom Knox, Mike Arnold and them always skate.

Krux has a new edit with Arin, Marbie, Cooper, Kristin Ebeling, Ryan Lay, and others hitting Blue Park, Alligator, and all the spots under the Kosciuszko.

The Creed Video” is filmed around New York, Richmond and Charlotte. These sort of homie videos have a special charm ♥ Sincerely smiled at the turnaround after the 5-0 180.

Dancing in the Street

Kareem by Atiba. Put this in the MoMA.

Phew.

If you have a few extra bucks, please contribute to Stacey Abrams’ Fair Fight organization, which combats voter suppression in Georgia — a place that you’re going to be hearing about a lot these next two months. Shout out to our Georgia readers ♥

Nobody will ever back 180 after a tre flip quite the way Huf back 180ed after a tre flip. R.B. Umali and Hanni El Khatib put together a touching video tribute for Keith Hufnagel.

You likely caught this one via Free last week, but Hosea Peeters’ “Interlude” part by Daniel Policelli rips, complete with a Karl Watson nose manny 360 interpolation on Park Avenue, and a 10/10 back 3 down the big steps across from World Trade. Filmed entirely in New York over the course of two summer weeks, with guest tricks from the new gen Chocolate riders.

New York’s voter registration deadline is this Friday, October 9th. New Jersey’s registration deadline is next Tuesday, October 13th. Visit Skaters Vote if you’re in another state for information. You already know the drill — if you regularly read QS and don’t vote (assuming you’re eligible), may every karmic force available in the universe roll the fuck out of your ankle on the morning of November 4th, may all your coffees spill onto your crotch for the entire time you’re recovering, and hopefully, you get fucking wheelbite and fly face first into a dirty puddle in front of all your exes on your first day back skating.

Some more Keith Hufnagel tributes: 1) The Warm-Up Zone wrote about Huf’s Non Fiction part, and that brown marble 360 flip that got reposted so much these past two weeks, 2) Free and Sneep / Memory Screen teamed up for a Huf video retrospective, 3) The New York Times ran an obituary for one of New York’s own, and most influential ♥

Chapstick Season

The obstacle purge at T.F. West rebounded quick!

With Hollywood hobbled by the pandemic, Jawn Gardner came through with the life-affirming motion picture event that we needed as we head towards the holidays ♥

Zooted” is a New York video by Stephán Lewis with appearances from Brandon Scott, Jiro Platt, Yaje Popson and a bunch of other people you’ll recognize from skating around downtown.

The Village Psychic dudes spend the lockdown months creating Village Archive, an early stab at a Wikipedia or an IMDB of skateboard footwear. (Man, have skaters been responsible for designing some awful shoes.) Kinda inspired to think up some ideas similar to this one now…

Sometimes We Skate & Sometimes We Cry, But I Guess You Know Now …Baby

“Kareem was right decades before skateboarding was ready to listen – You gotta break out and I gotta break out – from the invisible biases to the literal abusive behavior, the forces threatening to imprison our edits, our stories, our letters from ever being received.” José Vadi wrote an incredible essay on Free about Kareem Campbell, California in the 1990s, the L.A.P.D., Trilogy, representation, and how it all ties together.
