‘Is It Obvious How Much We Love Each Other?’ — An Interview with Aaron Loreth

A sense of mystery is not a common facet of today’s professional skateboarder. However, many would be hard-pressed to say much about Aaron Loreth beyond his well-documented attention towards tight transitions and brick manual pads. With his tall figure and light touch, there’s an ethereal feel to Loreth’s skating that furthers the intrigue.

Following our conversation about West Park, the brains of Limosine’s business operation continued to satisfy curiosity by discussing cultivating a career in his hometown of Ventura, California, his day job at Hockey and co-owning a brand with Cyrus Bennett and Max Palmer — a decade on from their halcyon days when Loreth would sleep on their floor during trips to New York.

The inclusion of skatepark footage in a video part can be a dubious subject, but one with generally agreed upon parameters. For transition skaters, it’s a no-brainer: who would argue a John Cardiel part would be better without ramps? D.I.Y. spots often fly, provided that they’re rough enough around the edges, rather than unsanctioned versions of a conventional skatepark. Also, if a park is old enough, or has an unintentional route to be exploited, you’re usually good to go.

Limo on 9/17 — Limosine’s ’50 Flower’ Video

It has been an astonishing five years (!) since September 17th carried the promise of new Max Palmer and Cyrus footage. For those who still yearn for those simpler times, Limo’s 9/17 release fills the void.

Have often wondered as to why those curb cut gaps on the outer edges of Union Square have never made it into the city’s rotation of Spots That Really Good Skaters Skate™ — especially with 10+ years of people propping those planter grates up to the pillars — and this video addresses that concern (see above.)

We have our first one-spot video of 2024! Kurt Havens filmed a video entirely at the Abraham Lincoln statue in Prospect Park to show the world how much joy and creativity could be extracted from an innocuous patch of smooth stone in the middle of a big, green park. It has been added to the QS One-Spot Part Map 📍🐢

“The ConEd Banks sit quietly near the entrance to a mysterious 300-acre parcel of land that has been a site of energy, pollution, and controversy for over 100 years.” Village Psychic wrote the history of the ConEd Banks, which has a strong crossover with the New York hardcore scene of the 1980s. (Before anyone asks, yes we have looked into doing a “Favorite Spot” with Zered about it, but the consensus seemed to be that the footy was too scattered.)

Paris De Noche is the new video from Naquan Rollings filmed in New York, Philly and Paris, with standout clips from Jahmir Brown and Carl Aikens.
