One of our favorite European skate crews …no, wait actually, two of our favorite European skate crews (!) — an amalgamation of Victor Campillo and his Marseille-based manual lords and the Swiss-based OG.2000 collective — came to New York last year. For many of them, it was their first time in the city: ten skaters, one crib with one bathroom, and a month to stack. Classic conundrum.
We get a lot of “Trip To New York!” edits floated past the submission desk, and it is always fun to watch how a crew did their New York trip. Live anywhere long enough and you’ll grow bored with spots that people would trade appendages for, so there’s always an, “Ok, what got you hyped? That way I can maybe muster up some hype in the people I skate with”-angle to the viewing experience. And knowing these dudes’ videos, you had to figure Chinatown Double or D7 wasn’t the top of their hit list, but it’s pretty awesome how low-impact they kept it.

The Banks Nine curbs, the two-stair cellar door Philly step, tight negotiations with the fence at Reggaeton, and an [unsurprisingly] high volume of Chinatown Manny Pad clips — a spot that lost its favor among locals during the Eisenhower administration, but one that these dudes make excellent use of. (Back nosegrind the corner to nollie 180 up and fakie manny off?!) They grilled at ConEd. They picnic’d at The Sombrero. Frankly, the only shocker wasn’t a plethora of combos at Polish Park. There’s always next time. “CRABI” is what they got this time.

The crew wanted to say: “Shout out to the crews and homies there. Hoobi, LateNiteStars…”
