While discussing recent travels with a skater who could be described as occupying your-favorite-skater’s-favorite-skater territory, this particular individual happened to mention the tough time he had skating in Budapest, Hungary. Before I could even say it, he interjected with something along the lines of: “Those Rios Crew spots are spots for the Rios Crew.”
This was meant in the most complimentary way imaginable. This city-defining crew that has reigned over Budapest’s spots for over a decade had sharpened its sights and approaches in such a fine-tuned way that the shit they skate is largely unnavigable to the visiting skater.
But some skate crew link-ups are written in the stars.
Zach Chamberlin and his Loophole Wheels imprint have spent just as much time mining corners in the already heavily-mined hills of San Francisco for new pathways in one of skateboarding’s global capitals. It makes perfect sense that in both crews’ telling of how “PURÓ” came to be, they describe a “friendship at first sight” feeling.
Zach and co. have been visiting the Rios boys in Budapest since 2016, and on this most recent outing, they brought their entire extended family to put together a proper edit. Includes perhaps the most footage of QS-favorite Alexis Lacroix in recent memory outside of a Dime project, and a ton of clips from the legend Ty Beall, who moved out of the country yesterday and we will miss a lot 💔
Skaters: Alexis, Rolika, Hiroki, Kubu, Akira, Töri, Ty, Ricsi, Csucsu, Zach, Gigi, Luci, Kokó.
