#TRENDWATCH2020: Doubling Up On Bank Tricks
Skateboarding down hills — like sex and sunsets — enjoys an exorbitant approval rating among humans. But even then, you have to admit that hills have been having a moment these past five years. People end video parts with hill bombs. People bomb hills for justice. The New York Times runs editorial on skateboarding’s most influential collective of hill skaters. Mainstream sports outlets chronicle the most notorious hill-bomb with a judgey raised eyebrow, but they still cover it.

It’s a strange time in our history to be solely concerned with skateboarding, so NY Mag has a running feature on how you can help support the fight against police brutality in America, which includes a list of organizations you can donate to if you have some spare coins. They provide context one what each one does, and you can choose what speaks the most to your heart. A lot have received overwhelming amounts of contributions, and are asking that donations now be directed elsewhere: the civil rights page on Charity Navigator is another helpful resource to find one.
We have donated to Campaign Zero, which advocates for the policy goals of Black Lives Matter to end police violence in America. You can read about their mission here.

Alltimers’ ‘Bounce’ Video
Just as Warren Buffett off-loaded his shares in airlines given the foreseeable future of travel, skate companies have began doing the same with their stockades of footage from pre-COVID19 trips. Any clips from far-off lands coming out once we hit the dog days of the pandemic are bound to be dated by default — like, anyone who switched their pants game up in quarantine is gonna have a tough time convincing the skateboarding public that their Euro footage wearing last year’s silhouettes is current ;)

An interesting quarantine contest would be best rendition of Fred Gall’s phone call to Tony Hawk, which Boil the Ocean just transcribed for posterity purposes. That means comic book renderings, live action re-creations, claymation, anime, abstract art, whatever. Kinda like a skate version of The Simpsons “Steamed Hams” remixes. Yes? No? Do we call a Zoom meeting to figure out logistics?
“The only TV show I’ve been watching is FaceTime with Mitch B.” Will Marshall is the latest guest on The Bunt. Will has a tactful ability to almost *go there* but he never quite goes there, unless of course, you skate for Bones Wheels ♥
