Late Nite Stars Monument-tage @ The Williamsburg Monument

The world’s most densely populated skate scenes are no strangers to spot modifications. When oft-traversed spots get a lil’ dull, you can simply “edit” the spot — temporarily or permanently — to unlock a new dimension of possibilities.

The Late Nite Stars crew did exactly that at the Williamsburg Monument, a spot that has more-or-less looked exactly the same since the day that Bobby Puleo clocked the first bit of footage ever captured there a quarter-century ago. They took some sock money, and added in an assortment of Euro gaps, hips, and a hubba ledge [reminiscent of that baby one in Malmo that Connor and Josh love] into the spot’s centerpiece.

Somehow, Wheelbite Feels Good In A Place Like This

📷 John Cardiel by Gabe Morford via Science Versus Life. 1998 btw.

Elisa Martini released her debut part for KCDC Skateshop via Skate Jawn. A fire noseslide, all New York clips, with some guest clips from the rest of the KCDC crew. Fantastic work.

Stephan Singh has a quick new montage of his crew. Really dope to see people still getting clips at Big Screen despite all odds.

“There’s a new emphasis on personality, and people want to know who the person is and the context of that person. It’s kind of funny, like we’re swinging really far into this abstract realm of not caring how good skaters are.” Jenkem has a great interview with QS-favorite, Zak Anders. Favorite skate interview in a minute.

‘Did you see Ty & Josh’s clips from the Depeche Mode concert?’

Still got some loose sizes of holiday QS gear on sale in the webstore ⛵️ Thanks for supporting what we do :)

“I tell Bill all the time, ‘I don’t have that many video parts left in me.'” Farran Golding profiled Tyshawn Jones and Bill Strobeck for GQ.

We were out in Argentina last month, and were lucky enough to get shown around by Eze Martinez (Milton’s brother, yes.) He’s got an incredible section in the new Cons Argentina edit. There’s something extra fun in watching siblings who skate at absolute opposite ends of the skate spectrum excel in their respective corners at this high of a level. (No Milton footy in this video though.)

‘STILL’ — Late Nite Stars & Chase Walker’s Latest Video

2023 feels like fertile ground for party videos.

What is a party video? Can you just throw in some footage of people doing shots, and 140 BPM your way into party video territory?

Absolutely not.

Like certain things, you know it when you see it. A party video is a good time, yes — but it doesn’t even need party footage! It’s a video where you can feel that the participants didn’t spend months arguing about what song fits best for what part. Friendships were not bent to near breaking points in the video’s creation, and footage was not treated with absolute sanctity, because after all, it’s only footage. You can always get more.

Fashion Mondaine” earned the title of 2023’s first great party video, and Chase Walker and co’s STILL feels like the next one.
