“MAKING PLANS” is a homie video by the Thumbs NYC crew, which is prolifically good at avoiding the familiar trappings of Manhattan and Brooklyn in favor of a more northern exploration of the city. Great Olu Stanley part to close it out, and going to go ahead and say that Baked Dougie has some of the most fire flip tricks of 2025. Tre flips and nollie flips with personality. We need more of that.

Luca Mayer has a new part by Chris Patti for Skate Jawn. He might be elbow high right now, but those spots are all for the grown. Ender at the NYPL is very sick.

“THANK GOD IT’S NOT 2024 ANYMORE” is a seven-minute, all-New York montage by Shaquille Waite that’s a great time. Kickflip back lip banks rail + front three Broome Street + flip 5-0 / flip nosegrind + more, all fire. All to some 2015ish #skatevideohouse ;)

For the life of me, cannot backtrack to where this screengrab originated from, but it was definitely a non-American skate video from January. Anyone?

Mike Heikkila is the latest subject of Skate Jawn‘s “$100 Chill” feature, and presumably the first person to ever get a haircut on Blubba. Good reminder to keep that lotion on you this winter.

The Palace team (+ Lucien Clarke’s mom) gather around the TV to rewatch their seminal all-London video from 2017, Palasonic. Would be dope to see them commentate on the Bronze x Palace Paramount video, which feels a bit “forgotten” within each’s respective videography.

“The idea that I could make a show about skateboarding, but wouldn’t be relegated to ‘skate art’ but be taken seriously as an art show that happens to be about skateboarding, was something I am grateful for.” Esteban Jefferson spoke to Monster Children about his new solo show that is inspired by the Brooklyn Banks. It is on view @ 303 Gallery on W. 21st Street until February 26.

You realize all that skate blogging was worth it when you see a 2025 teenager skating Reggaeton Ledges to peak Young Jeezy. “A Third Perspective” is a sick 15-minute, all-NYC homie video from Alim Orahovac and the youngs. [Being in a homie video where one of your friends varial flips and another tre flips the Flushing grate is a mandatory rite of passage in life.]

“The video is called ‘Still in Atlanta’ because of fools who moved to New York or L.A. and were on me about staying here, saying shit like ‘Atlanta is dead.'” Jenkem spoke to Atlanta skate scene ambassador, Justin Hearn, about the ATL scene and his new video.

More Sidlauskian spot nostalgia is what we need :)

Let’s get through the remaining year-end stuff and not talk about it ever again: 1) Adjacency Bias dropped their top five 2024 videos from the Pacific Northwest skate scene. 2) Simple Magic assesses an array of very specific 2024 skateboarding predictions that were made a year ago, now that the year closed out. 3) Boil the Ocean’s #1 part of 2024 didn’t make the QS Readers Poll top 20, but it definitely should have.

Andrew Miami videographer Zoogie dropped a six-minute New Year’s edit featuring Sully Cardenas, Stafhon Boca, Coles Bailey, Elijah Odom and many more familiar faces. Gabe’s noseslide at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store might legit be the second or third clip anyone has ever got there on account of the security.

Truly an honor for QS to make Simple Magic’s year-end best skateboard writing list four times. The fact that people actually read around here means the world. Thank you, Cole. Shout out Mike, shout out Farran, shout out Adam, shout out Frozen in Carbonite.

Crazy it’s taken this long for a Muni video to get pinned onto the list… Added Brian Panebianco’s “The Final Plaza” video, which documents the final days at Philly’s Municipal Services building, to the QS One-Spot Part Map 📍 This crew’s dedication throughout the heartbreaks is truly awe-inspiring. Amazing work from all involved.

Jace Detomasso briefly spoke to Thrasher about his Reggaeton Ledges ollie, on which he dislocated his shoulder first try and had to wait a year to go back. Pretty dope how anytime Jace ollies something, people want to get him on the horn about it.
