Happy Thanksgiving.

North Carolina’s Ron Parker first landed on our radar via Connor Champion, another North Carolinan dear to our hearts — who, by turn, was also supported by a legion of NC O.Gs like Bob Reynolds, Brett Abramsky and many more.

We have spoken in the recent past about how the tight knitted-ness of the state’s skate scene permeates through the screen across generations, even if its major skate hubs are hours apart from one another. That even applies when the skater moves beyond their scene into buzzier skate epicenters. Connor moved to New York ten-plus years ago and has been a QS fixture ever since; Ron’s ripping out in Los Angeles right now. But something about the skating still feels …North Carolina. Not Petey Pablo song neccesary ;)

Congratulations to John Gardner on the pro board ♥ There are few skaters as contagiously fun to watch as John, and if getting people hyped to skate is the principal purpose of why we have pro skateboarders to begin with, John should’ve been pro ages ago :) Creature dropped a remix of his footy from the past few years to illustrate that exact point. Can’t think of a recent skate commercial that was this good. Philly Santosuosso and a friend pay homage to Spike and Mike’s “Is it the shoes?” Jordan ad on the occasion of Philly’s new Venture truck. The execution is just so, so good, right down to every little detail. Give everyone involved a raise.

Anybody selling hard goods can attest to the “skateboard boom” that began in the lockdown months. People who had not picked up a board in years because life got in the way were buying new completes because, like, wtf else was there to do?

But what about those who never let life entirely get in the way of skating? For them, this past spring was a tidal wave of free time that no gainfully employed adult skateboarder thought they would experience until they were retired with bad knees. It was a pass to be 17 again, at least for a bit.

As outlined in 2019’s outing, Josh has been on a half-decade streak of filming parts mostly on his two days off from work a week. For a sizable chunk of 2020, there was no work, so this year’s is an extended edition — complete with cameos from some extended QS family members who haven’t popped up in an edit for deep.
