Weekend Viewing: Horny, the New Video From the Most Productive Crew™ in New York Skateboarding

max palmer needle tread

Johnny Wilson‘s lack of a digital strategy has forced us into the office on a Saturday for a rare weekend update. But given the 1OAK logo at the beginning, maybe releasing a skate video during peak party hours (Friday night) was in the plan all along.

The Most Productive Crew™ in New York Skateboarding has returned with their second not-just-a-web-clip project in ~four months. They have a nicer camera, clearer picture quality, hornier music supervision, more needle threading tricks, and a continued adherence to 2014’s sexualization of skate video titles. (You could and should still buy a copy of Paych here if you love the VX1000 that much.)

Full parts from Cyrus Bennett and 2014 Q.S.S.O.T.Y., Max Palmer. Guest appearances from John Choi and others.

Paych extras online next week. Enjoy this very cold and rainy weekend :)

Also, don’t forget about yesterday’s second most important release.

2014 New York Skateboarding Year in Review: 5-1

Final post of the year. Previously: 25-21, 20-16, 15-11, 10-6, 2014 in T.F. Obstacles.

Happy New Year. Be safe tonight if you’re inclined to go outside.

5. The Burning Question of 2014: “Is Chinese Seaport #Legit?”

It is bad enough that our culture has been diminished to an abyss of spots-that-aren’t-really-spots and Houston Street construction scraps. New York-based skateboarders have now found themselves overthinking miracles like the resurrection of Seaport.

“Does it look too much like a skatepark?”
“Will my footage here still look #core between the traffic barriers and late-night wallrides in my ‘Summer Trip to New York’-part?”
“Am I lame for thinking a metal ledge needs wax?”
“Will my friends back home say I sold out for not skating Reggaeton Ledges instead?”
“If there was some #urban graffiti on the ledge, would it be more #legit?”

Do you think the dudes at Para-lel, who attained ungodly manual and ledge abilities over the years, ever stopped to question as to whether or not their spot was *too* good? Americans, man.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas. This our our tenth Christmas clip. It is also the shortest out of the ten, but that’s due to some stuff for upcoming projects getting put aside :)

We’ve never issued an apology for poor filming before. We alienated anyone who could be offended by bad filming in 2007 at the very latest. However, the worst filmed clip in this entire video is one of Jake Johnson, who is the best, and a long-time benefactor of the steady hands of Ryan Garshell, Bill Strobeck, Brengar et al. Sorry about that. First and last time you’ll see an apology for really bad filming on here.

Enjoy your holiday and the 50+ degree days up ahead.

Features Max Palmer, Dallas Todd, Keith Denley, Jake Johnson, Zach Baker, Pad Dowd, Lurker Lou, Alexander Mosley, Kevin Tierney, Josh Velez, Nick Nunez, Connor Champion, Andre Page, Kadeem Walters, Matt Perez, Alex Olson, Ty Lyons, Sweet Waste, Antonio Durao, Mike Gigliotti, Johnny Wilson, and Cyrus Bennett.

Contributing filmer: Andre Page.

Alex Olson started a lil’ skate talk show called “Skate Wise” on Know Wave Radio. The first episode is on Soundcloud. It’s the talk show equivalent of a bunch of dudes sitting around on a couch ranting about skating after a session. No real format or try-hard radio personas, which is nice. “I love Ishod, Ishod is sick. Yeah, he drinks beer.”

2013 Q.S.S.O.T.Y, Leo Gutman, has a new jazz-tinged mini part for Acapulco Gold.

Frozen in Carbonite on the custom, 1-of-1 Sal 23 Nike SB Dunk Low colorway. “I’m not sure if I’m going to skate them or just stunt around for the summer. In any event, as you can imagine, they pair well with Light-Ass Denim.™”

Jason Dill: Post-Mindfield and pre-“cherry” remix video.

Keelan Dadd? No disrespect to anyone listed, but the #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 Epicly Later’d that “needs” to happen is Muska. #10 is Sheffey.

Video blog #211 from the Beef Patty guys, with some block-long Max Palmer lines.

Here’s the Richmond, VA-based Recordings of Boardings video, Off the Record. The RAW VIDEO was online all weekend, but got taken down and is now only available for preorder in hard copy form. Based on one viewing of that project, Boston seems to be one of the final east coast refuges for jean shorts. Could the Celtics be in the market for a Josh Harrellson acquisition?

After seeing one in Static 4, and another one in this Capita Skateboards clip, it might be time to officially place frontside 5050 backside 360 outs on 2014’s #trendwatch. Also could happily spend the remainder of human existence without hearing another Big L or Wu-Tang song in a skate video, but Redman might forever have a pass :)

The all-subway skating section from Tengu is now on YouTube. Shout out M.N.M.F.T.B.

They’re trying to make make the Santa Monica Courthouse a legal skate spot. Of course, it involves skateboarders being patient, not stupid, etc, so there’s an uphill climb ahead. America is utter garbage for skateboarding, btw #eurowithdrawl.

The security guards at that new pop over rail by the 7th Avenue banks are going to have a fun summer. P.S. They’re already reknobbing the ledges at Seaport 5.0.

QS Sports Desk: Melo’s opting out. Who cares.

Loose Trucks Max in WHATSSAMATTA TWO (#tumblr)

Our premonitions regarding the Tumblrness of skate videos’ collective future are now being confirmed. WHATSSAMATTA TWO is definitively more Tumblr-as-an-adjective than its predecessor, which was deficient of #electro, #seapunk and #trippy aesthetics. (If you are in your thirties and don’t hang out with people under 25, thus are at odds with the concept of content-platform-as-an-aesthetic, keep this in mind: Someone born in the nineties who didn’t know who Kevin Durant was once jokingly-but-also-honestly told me they wear Bulls gear “because it’s Tumblr.”)

ANYWAY, Loose Trucks Max A.K.A. Max Palmer A.K.A. the Quartersnacks office’s favorite midwestern-born skater has a part in the aforementioned project. It’s an iPhone affair half-edited to a track off the “IDGAF about French Montana but he picks good beats”-camp’s favorite Coke Boys project.

The one here must be over a year old, but are tricks on televisions still #relevant in the Tumblr era? Has anyone wallied a Macbook propped up by a brick yet?

And since this post has been heavy on Tumblr-isms, here is a .GIF illustrating how one earns the title “Loose Trucks Max.”
