Congratulations to everyone who was involved with this: Skateboarding at the Santa Monica Courthouse is now legal. A colossal step forward with how skateboarding is treated in America altogether. Small Banks restoration next? :)

Despite having literally no interest in the Life Extension video whatsoever, the running commentary at SMLTalk piqued the Quartersnacks Office’s interest. (Susan Sarandon is still sorta hot for 60+ btw.) And good thing it did. Pat Pasquale AKA Sinner’s part is INCREDIBLE. We’re talking Josh Kasper in The Storm meets Guy in Mouse meets 2001: A Space Odyssey meets Total Recall. It’s amazing.

Well that was quick: new Supreme mini video with all the “cherry” kids on the way. Sean Pablo also discusses it briefly in his new Vice interview.

The Skate Jawn four-year anniversary clip is a good time.

Speaking of good times, we have a frontrunner for 2014’s “feel good” part of the year. Cult favorite of apparently Kenny Anderson and anyone who grew up on Baker videos, Scott Kane stepped away from handrails and filmed a really fun comeback part.

135th & Riverside

We don’t often run posts of a single photo, but in a year with a lot of remarkable New York-set photographs already (Mehring’s shot of Olson on Water Street, Atiba’s Dylan Reider cover shot, and Keith Morrison’s stolen shot of Austyn Gillette all come to mind), John Shanahan’s diptych of James Juckett stands out in particular.

Located at 135th and Riverside, this stoned-lined pathway leads you to 12th Avenue under the Riverside Drive Viaduct. There isn’t much to skate here, but for such a photogenic location, it’s surprising it hasn’t popped up in even a lifestyle-y skate photo until now. Your Tumblr dashboard won’t tell you two things about the spot: 1) Both the runway to the first set and the space after it are downhill. The guy had half a second before he hit the wallride. 2) The brownish spot on the ground between the two sets has to be one of the most urinated-on pieces of public space in New York City — we’re talking decades of piss that probably couldn’t be cleansed if you threw a bucket of bleach on it. The dude literally risked a staph infection for this awesome pair of photos.

On some full movie nerd shit: This stairway’s scenic qualities have been put to use for quite a while now. It appeared at the end of the 1948 film Force of Evil, which was one of the first movies to have a sizable chunk of its photography done on the actual street in New York, as opposed to a set. Martin Scorsese has been geeking out over it for pretty much the duration of his career.

Exit Skateshop in Philadelphia (825 N 2nd Street) has a restock of QS gear. No, they do not have RiRi cruisers. Also, we will be going out of the country for a bit, so all orders placed after 5 P.M. E.S.T. on Tuesday, July 23, will not be shipped until August 7th. Please place any orders for QS merchandise in the next day or so if you don’t want to wait two weeks for delivery. (P.S. There are not many larges left.)

Some dudes from Puerto Rico opted out of the traditional April-October trip to New York season, and came here in the winter to film a cool ten-minute montage with a Watermelon Alex appearance.

The Tennskate crew keeps the 2002 dream alive by skating the last remaining Up-Rail in their new summer trip to New York clip.

In case you missed it, Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock talked about the virtues of skateboarding in the latest episode of Seinfeld’s web show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The whole episode is great, but skip to the 11:35 mark for the part in question, or check the soundbyte that 5,000 people Instagrammed last week.

The new Buffalo skatepark looks like the Canarsie park on steroids.
