Spots: Brooklyn — Coney Island & Gravesend
Spot: Another “what-the-hell-were-they-thinking-when-they-made-this” spot. The bank/mini-hip is perfect in every way. It has ample runway, is painted just enough to be smooth, yet not too slippery, and is wide enough for pretty much any trick you could think of, not to mention the fact that it leads to a wall at the top for wallrides and wallies. Other than that, there is a rather steep eight-stair handrail that can only be skated backside for regular, frontside for goofy. Right behind the bank are two four sets separated by about five feet of sloped flat.
Bust — ♦♦ / Occasional: Usually, you should not get kicked out of here. However, people might throw things at you from their windows. The actual bank is under a roof, but the place you would stand for your runway is out in the open, so be careful a beer bottle doesn’t smack you over the head from the fourth story while you are waiting for your next turn.
Location: Surf Avenue and 24th Street in Coney Island. Take the D, F, N or Q to Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue, skate south for half a block on Stillwell and make a right on Surf Avenue. Skate west on Surf Avenue for nine blocks until you hit 24th Street. The spot will be on your left / north side.
