“My first response was that its super chill and that I have a good balance on both, but now that I think about it, the way I and a lot of people in New York operate is not normal.” Heckride’s latest is an interview with young legend and Limosine rider, Enzo Kurmaskie.

They say “skateparks are growing up.” Wasn’t expecting such an in-depth dive into skateboarding’s evolving role in public space design, “skate gardens,” and the Mount Prospect Park skatepark situation from …Bloomberg.

It has never been easy to make a full-length skate video. Today, it might be harder than ever.

If you’re Josh Stewart, owner of Theories of Atlantis Distribution and the filmmaker behind the Static series, videos just take time. So much time, in fact, that he says Brett Weinstein, who stars in the forthcoming Static VI [58 minutes], put out a half-dozen other video parts with his Chicago crew, Deep Dish, in the time it took to finish the latest Static.

Or, if you’re a company man like Deluxe team manager and videographer Tim Fulton, you’re fighting everyone else’s schedule. If someone on Real has enough footage for a part, Fulton says, it’s unlikely everyone else is also close to completing a part — and even then, skaters are eager to get their footage out. So they put it out.

The Price Is Right

Love when videos from younger crews go in on midtown spots. “Cockeyed” by Jack Held is a new video mainly filmed in New York with a Miami clip here and there. Back tail down the U.N. hubba and back lip down the tall-ass World Trade rail were crazy.

The YouTuber formerly known as Juicy Elbowz (but currently known as Jesse Alba) dropped a watermarked masterpiece of iPhone footage featuring himself and other Frogian acolytes.

“Before I ever started skateboarding, I played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. I remember doing wallrides on the game and thinking it was just impossible like it was something only possible in the game.” Heckride interviewed Akwasí Owusu. (Usually when someone has an interview with QS scheduled and it’s timed so close to another one the person just had come out, we fall back. Shout out to Heckride for mentioning the Village Psychic one upfront, and using it to begin the interview altogether. The two came out nothing alike, so shout out to them for that, too ❤️)

Chuck’s Viral Sunburn

Leo Heinert’s Blitz Jam series hosted an impromptu skate jam at Flushing last week, and a bunch of wild shit went down. Really sick seeing people huck down the six, which feels like it hasn’t seen a ton of action since they renovated it over COVID. Brandon has got to go back for that 360 flip — that was wild.

Hypebeast paid a visit to Carpet Company HQ in Baltimore, and came back with a video exploring the two brothers’ creative and production process.

Soo Saxton is back with Gabe Shah for another six minute part filmed entirely in New York. You can feel the cold through the screen in some of those clips.

There’s no way you haven’t seen the new Bronze video yet, right?

There’s def an official Thrasher edit incoming, but Zubr ripped and combined everyone’s IG stories of Tyshawn’s Can Jam at Blue Park this past Saturday into a single video. Shout out to the legend who continues to show up to all the skate events and films with his laptop.
