The most important news first: the city approved a new trash can design and it is substantially taller than the current ones. Thoughts? Concerns? Commissioned ideas for Tyshawn?

Skate shops are special places that should be protected and supported, but Humidity down in New Orleans is something else for giving out completes to kids for getting straight As.

One Day It’ll Be Summer

The past week has been BRUTAL for rounding up content pertinent to the interests of our office. Everyone kinda needs it to be warm again — I don’t think a single piece of non-Instagram footage from New York emerged in the last seven days besides Dick Rizzo’s switch front shove over the can wearing a Hardbody hoody in the Huf video…

That and Young Jeezy, this website’s longtime spiritual guide, announced that he will be retiring. Though he taught us all we need to know to continue on this journey of life long ago, we can’t deny the melancholy feeling that fell over our staff last week.

How many times did everyone watch *the* Louie Lopez wallie video before they figured out what he actually did?

As they countdown to whenever their video is supposed to be proven real, Quasi has a photo feature over on Heaps Chat from a filming trip down in Miami.

“You already know about that Dirty Ghetto Kids Skateboards but we talking about that Alltimers Skateboards thing.” Wish this video was 5x as long, but Tyler Warren made a wrap-up video of the most recent Alltimers trip down to — you guessed it — Miami.

The largest tall tee Wade Desarmo ever wore was a 5XL. That and an examination of why so few objectively superior skateboarders make it out of Canada in his interview with a competing podcast. Even if you’re not a “Nine Club” guy, this one was great.

As far as our *favorite* skate podcast goes (and the one Wade is currently M.I.A. from because nobody is “in the streets” in Toronto…), The Bunt’s latest is with Stefan Janoski. Always felt in the minority of preferring his Inhabitants part over Mosaic, but good to to know it’s his fave too ;)

Enjoyed this piece on why the death of DVD will haunt consumers. Skateboarding has the benefit of skate shops preserving community — unlike film, which lost its cultural hubs with the death of video stores (R.I.P. Kim’s) — which is all the more of a reminder to give your shop some money today.
