Better Late Than Never: End of Summer 2015 Montage

We made it! Just one day shy of October — when it becomes truly embarrassing to post an “End of Summer” edit. Not that we haven’t been late on the Labor Day deadline or entirely missed an End of Summer clip before (obviously in 2009, the year multiple viewers of the ten-year clip pointed out as the turning point for when the party became a crucial part of QS office culture), but it’d be too sad to enter autumn without bidding da summa farewell.

In our defense, these past four months had multiple extracurricular video projects: “56 Tricks,” “Core” (some of the better iPhone angles from it made their way into this one), the all-too-important TM101 anniversary clip, and obviously the ten-year edit.

Connor filmed the majority of this part throughout 2014, with a few clips from the tolerable days of this past winter. Half New York / half North Carolina, cut up to a late bloomer (at least in New York…) of a “Song of the Spring” candidate, and the greatest punctuation anthem of all time. Enjoy.

His points about developers positioning skateparks in rundown areas so they give way to gentrification seem to make sense. (Check where on the map the new Jersey City skatepark will be.)

An interview with Chad Bowers, former Alien Workshop team manager and principal figurehead behind Mother Collective about working for and starting a skateboarding company in…Ohio. “They forgot about the fourth coast.”

Dunno what the deal with this blurry and dark Leo Gutman re-edit is (art?), but it was a good reminder to revisit The Brodies part that earned him Q.S.S.O.T.Y honors in 2013.

Even though he is quite obviously the entire QS office’s favorite skateboarder, it should be noted that Lucas’ slappy back smith IG vid was not the first known documentation of said maneuver on social media. This guy did it for the Vine back in January.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Nice to see J.R. Smith excelling in a city with minimal nightlife. Imagine him on the Thunder? He might become MVP.

Merry Christmas. This our our tenth Christmas clip. It is also the shortest out of the ten, but that’s due to some stuff for upcoming projects getting put aside :)

We’ve never issued an apology for poor filming before. We alienated anyone who could be offended by bad filming in 2007 at the very latest. However, the worst filmed clip in this entire video is one of Jake Johnson, who is the best, and a long-time benefactor of the steady hands of Ryan Garshell, Bill Strobeck, Brengar et al. Sorry about that. First and last time you’ll see an apology for really bad filming on here.

In honor of #NYFW, and given the free time available in their Boston-based, #FW-lacking headquarters, SMLTalk ran down the five most iconic Muska phases. The Muska’s sometimes bearded, #drk #fshn incarnation of today is not represented. Less sophisticated fashion editors may group this with the “Raver” phase, but we all know they are two different things entirely, albeit natural progressions from one another.

A full goof-around part on east coast-ish spots from Shane O’Neill would be fun, no?

Also, where exactly is this basketball court in the middle of the projects where every player is blonde-haired and blue-eyed? Did Dirk buy Smith Houses for his nephews?

The final, northernmost section of the High Line park is opening on September 21st. It’ll have spots, and you won’t be able to skate them for an excess of twelve seconds. Yeah, what else is new?
