That’s Not A Website, Quartersnacks Is A Website

The Eifuku crew out of Japan dropped a New York trip edit, which has the #2 clip from last week’s Top 10 — but a lot of other gems too. That noseslide to boardslide on the barrier at Columbus Circle was wild. Also love it when visitors night skate; they even re-unlocked Times Square half-a-decade past it being a go.

Lots of spots inside empty malls and a fire bit of Hardbody Ross footy at the end in Matty Hilzenrath’s new NJ-scene edit, “Five On Pump Two.” Ross gotta go back for that hardflip. (Also shout out to his frontside flip tweak on the XL Tompkins bump-to-bar.)

Carhartt WIP Presents: Snacks In Progress — 2025 World Tour

There is a distinct energy to a skate tour video. Not “we got an Airbnb in Paris for ten days and this is what we filmed,” but a genuine sprawling tour — more along the lines of lightning-in-a-bottle magic first brought to the world by landmark projects like the DC Super Tour and Harsh Euro Barge. Those videos created a vibe that every crew of skateboarders ripping around a continent has been chasing ever since, even if they are too young for those projects to have been part of their formative years. It’s all in the spirit they instilled.

We teamed up with our friends at Carhartt WIP and “Giddy” series architect, Romain Batard, to bring you “Snacks In Progress: The 2025 World Tour.” The only caveat is, that we didn’t actually go on tour — we just managed to compile every bit of outtakes, water bucket fiascos, European #spotporn, B-roll, unseen and maybe-worth-seeing-again footage from the past ~year’s WIP trips to create a fun companion piece ahead of whatever summer travels you might have lined up. Features a lot of QS favorites. Hopefully, it feels like a tour, or at least inspires you to go on one with your buds ;) Shout out Ragers Inc.

Wish It Was Miami

Simple Magic compiled a list (with excerpts!) of 2023’s best skateboard writing, including Mr. Munzenrider’s QS story about skate shop tees + Mr. Carbonite’s annual Song of the Summer x Part of the Summer study.

“You just got white rice?” Stephan Singh has a sick edit out called “Drop Top Drippy” featuring some deeper spot digging than any ol’ local edit. That firecracker bank thing on Morris Avenue might be the most London-ass spot in all New York. Kickflip was the one.

IMPULSE is an Albany / upstate scene video by Chris Sendzik with parts from Cooper Qua, Jeremiah Gray, Yafay Towles and a great closing section from Nick Persico.

Spotlight Chicago — An Interview With Mark Dunning About Deep Dish & ‘Terminal’

It’s rare that a skate video is so clearly evocative of the time in which it was made. There’s a sense of pandemic emptiness that runs through Terminal, Deep Dish’s latest video, nearly all shot in 2020.

Mark Dunning, lead filmer and editor of the Deep Dish series — now up to eight titles — says one of the reasons he makes videos is to shine a light on Chicago skateboarding, because he says it doesn’t get the attention it deserves. He also says he’d long sought a particular shot of Chicago, showing it as “deserted or forgotten,” something which he says that he finally achieved in Terminal. Perhaps that purposeful emptiness was heightened by the past year.

It was under COVID-19 conditions that Dunning, a year ago living in New York City, says he made his way back to his hometown Chicago. With rumors of New York going into lockdown and the uncertainty behind it, he says he and his girlfriend packed their car and drove west, thinking they’d work remotely for a week before heading back.
