We’ve been making these clips for over ten years. This is literally the eleventh one, which might make it the longest running web clip in the cluttered history of the #skateboardinternet. This also may be the year where we lightened up a bit. The late weeknights in midtown didn’t happen — not like it feels like Christmas outside anyway. We did make it up to Lenox [once] though, got Tyler Tufty out for a sesh, and skated a stump [twice]. Merry Christmas and thanks to everyone for their support this year.

The Warschauer Benches are on the shortlist of the funnest spots I’ve ever skated, and they’re nothing more than a better version of the Newport blocks from ~15 years ago. Kingpin has a full feature on their creation and history. Amazing how the formula for a perfect skate spot is no more sophisticated than decent ground + wooden benches + metal, and how often that goes ignored.
Isle’s Vase video is premiering on Thursday, November 19 at 8 P.M. and Paul Young’s Bleach video is premiering on Wednesday, November 25 at 8 P.M. Guess what theater? If you guessed the Imax on 68th Street, then you guessed wrong.
Did you know Fully Flared premiered eight years ago to the day? Village Psychic looked back on Anthony Pappalardo’s seminal yet at-the-time misunderstood section, which inspired legions of twenty-somethings to scour Bushwick for unchartered crust, caused a 5% spike in applications to Pratt’s sculpture program, and skyrocketed the demand for brown chino fabric among the world’s textile mills.

Found this rather interesting: the world famous Sants spot in Barcelona is unmodifiable, on account of it receiving an architecture award in 1983. The city is, however, starting to build designated places to skate in each district of the city, which could stir things up a bit in what’s basically the skate spot capital of Europe.

Week late, yeah, and yes, “real hip-hop” music supervision is making the entire QS office want to only listen to Migos until the end of human history, but the new GX1000 clip is a New York montage of the year contender. It has everything: Jake, Aaron Herrington, lines in building lobbies, tricks on two-second bust spots, Brendan Carroll finding two new ways to skate Union Square, and near-death experiences.
“Nobody naturally skates like Dylan Rieder, not even Dylan Rieder.” With skateboarding’s renewed emphasis on post-land poses, Muckmouth put together a compilation of “Storks” A.K.A. one-foot rollaways. Yes, Gino is obviously the king. (They’re not completely extint…Ishod slips out of a chill switch one in this clip.)
Man, this incarnation of Girl and Chocolate was incredible — just thank the heavens that the jump-cut era of skate video editing got phased out by 2004. Have you tried watching The Reason lately? It’s seizure-inducing.
Lamenting the demise of slam sections in skate videos. Didn’t they just get renamed to “fail comps” and move to YouTube? …and what person 25+ needs more reasons to get discouraged from skateboarding? Parkour slams are way better anyway.
