Josh Velez’s New Year Part

There’s been one full Josh part each year for over half a decade now — and not to be outdone by the stop-and-go-and-stop-again nature of 2021 — he uploaded this one to his IG just a few hours before the clock hit 12 on New Year’s Eve. The streak lives on ❤️

‘RAT RATZ 6’ — Milano Centrale 2021

In RAT RATZ 5, there was a feeling that they were on the precipice of a great leap. Their fifth installment of Milano Centrale reportage felt like the beginning of the next chapter, though still captured through through the charm of their scuffed-up fisheye. A few months later, they would co-star along the Supreme dudes in their Milan trip video, STALLION.

Since then, a bit has changed: they made the inevitable HD upgrade (heartbroken to see the O.G. Rat Ratz fisheye go, but change is the only constant in this crazy world 😉), and they made that Leap™.

good 4 u — Best of 2021 Montage

There are few QS traditions as sacrosanct as mashing together a bunch of clips from the boys to the year’s most obvious songs — so that commenters on YouTube could be like, “Wait, you like this song?!”

Over the years, it has evolved into smushing down vertical iPhone clips from social media to fit somewhat of a square, but the objective remains the same: a Christmas card of good times from the past twelve-ish months. Kind of crazy looking at the ones from 2019 and back to see all the travel footy. Hopefully again one day, yaknow?

This time around, it’s to the year’s best Big Tymers cover song and the year’s best …song 😉 It’s like a Spotify wrapped but better and the QS version 💕

‘The iPod Video’ By the Star Team

People react to the mention of an iPod the same way they do to — idk, a cassette player now?

The first nod to Kyota Umeki’s video work on QS was when he filmed an entire video on a Nintendo 3DS back in 2017. And now, he siphoned a summer and fall’s worth of skating through a fourth generation iPod touch — the first one to ever include a video camera, released in 2010 — with a fisheye glued onto it.

The iPod Video features a roster of Tompkins locals that you will recognize from Homies 2, and commercials for The Star Team’s new drop of jeans, sneakers (?!), and headphones (?!?!?!) Anyone who still has the energy to debate VX v.s. HD should probably just dig up their old iPod from the LiveMixtapes era, and get a glue gun ;)

Check The Star Team’s new product here.

Quick Lil’ Trip Edit — Carhartt WIP DMV Mix

So it snowed today. It sucked. It also means that anybody’s northeastern skateboard pursuits are on borrowed time.

Below is an edit put together by Ryan Mettz — of first part in The Hit Video fame, yes — from a quick trip down to Baltimore and Washington D.C. that comprised of Max, DREWWWWWWW, Mecca, and Enzo. The latter two both got injured early on in the journey, but you can catch Enzo in The LC Video and Mecca in Group Chat.

It just snowed though. Great time to heal up ❤️
