There is a social media manager rolling in his grave somewhere at the thought of dropping the season’s marquee skate video on a Sunday night, but if people only did things that made sense, we probably wouldn’t be starting skate companies in the first place ❤️
Though people whose primary concerns are roster rumors will not be satiated with Quasi’s latest, HARD RESET is a replanting of the now-veteran brand’s flag in skateboarding’s heartland. Even for one of few non-coastal major board brands, it is remarkable just how wide a net of spots the Quasi braintrust finds itself working with here. It feels like maybe ~1% of the video is on “famous” spots. No Pulaski in Jason Nam’s part, no Albany plaza in Cooper Qua’s, and no major downtown Richmond plazas in Gilbert’s — even a lot of the New York shit is stuff you kinda sorta maybe remember passing rather than, idk, some shit on Blubba. HARD RESET is a masterwork in skateboard world-building, much in the way that the Alien/Habitat videos its lineage is built upon inspired the theater of the mind in their respective eras.
And shout out to 2023 Q.S.S.O.T.Y. Dick Rizzo for turning in The Part™ ❤️
I also like the idea of Bobby still being too shell-shocked from turning in his opus on a spot he doesn’t even like to tap into The Reset. Rest is a form of resetting too though.
