New Jersey: The New Manny Capital Of America? — Hugh O’Hare’s “Just Enough” Video

New Jersey is #1 in many things: K-12 education, population density, bar pies, skaters who go on to be more synonymous with Philly or New York. But one thing people have historically not looked towards New Jersey for, is manuals. It makes sense that a style of skating born on cement islands amid SoCal parking lots would not necessarily incubate as well in a place whose state emblem features Fred Gall.

But wait — New Jersey has plenty of parking lots, no? And plenty of cement islands? And manual skating has evolved since The World Park! Hell, the global manny skater capital is currently located in the south of France. In fact, if New Jersey isn’t also #1 in the country in manuals, how do you explain Jasper Stieve? What if New Jersey has been steamrolling towards being the top destination for two-wheeled skateboarding this entire time?

Hugh O’Hare’s Jersey scene video, “Just Enough,” makes the case for the New World Order as it pertains to the manual.

The best New Jersey videos are the ones that could not give the slightest semblance of a fuck that their home state is nestled between the northeast’s two buzziest skate hubs, and choose self-containment to create something unique. Short of a couple clips in Maine and Colorado, the video doesn’t leave the Garden State once, instead opting to mine every parking garage, industrial park loading bay, and shopping mall for something to manual on. The Marseille boys should definitely link them on their next trek over the Atlantic.
