It’s that time of the year again when Khaled goes skateboarding.

Guess the word is out on this one. Proud to say QS will be releasing a ten-year anniversary book on Powerhouse this fall, entitled TF at 1. It’s a fun look back at the past decade give-or-take of the extended family that surrounds this website. More details later this year. Keep an eye out for snippets on Instagram.

The list of people who look as good as peak-era Rob Welsh on a skateboard is in the single digits. Also, since skateboarders love rappers from the nineties so much that we’re still editing to songs off The Sun Rises in the East fifteen years after Static 1 came out, you guys might be interested to learn that a lot of those rappers are still making music in 2015!

Dime and Alltimers present…the first skateboard specifically designed for girls.

It may be gone by the time you read this, but the crew from Canal Wheels dropped off a new box at T.F. (Though it seems to have already switched sponsors.) Sorta wonder if a loose box stands to live a longer life at Delancey curb rather than T.F. these days.

TWS posted a “Five Trick Fix” from Johnny Wilson’s new video, Sure. Word is that it’s going online sometime this week :)

Obviously there are three Soho clips in the new Austyn Gillette part.

Also always been my favorite part from the guy who ruined skateboarding.

SML Talk comes through with some detailed analysis of the “one down,” rather than the more popular “one up.” Unless there are photos of you running in next month’s Thrasher, A.B.Ds are an irrelevant concept in 2015. Chris Joslin or Shane O’Neill are always only a five-hour flight away. Somebody will be better than you, the guy who did the best tricks over the Flushing grate is someone you’ve probably never heard of, and nobody will ever look as cool as J.B. Gillet. This intro clip for some new company called Futur is solid. Features Santiago Sasson and Juan Saavedra, who you probably recognize from the past few Palace videos.

NY Skateboarding has some good photos of the Nike park in Greenpoint, if you have yet to go. It’s open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 A.M. to 7 P.M. until Labor Day, though I feel like someone was saying it’ll last til the end of September.

Yo did TWS really just hint that The Storm 2 is in the works?

In 2012, it was “I’d rather watch Gino push.” In 2013, it was “I’d rather watch Busenitz skate a curb.” In 2014, it was “I’d rather watch Jahmal do a 5050.” In 2015, it’s “I’d rather watch a bunch of kids in Ethiopia skate than Chris Cole do some NBDs at the DC park.”

Pretty much every skateboarder outside of the Bay Area who knows about Andre Nickatina discovered Andre Nickatina through skate videos. SMLTalk gave a rundown of notable Nickatina #musicsupervision throughout skate video history.

Pretty rare that you see a New York clip in 2015 almost entirely filmed in Manhattan. Nice to see a lot of seldom-skated U.W.S. and Morningside spots.

Paych (or whatever) is now online in full.

Corey Rubin is my one friend who can skate bowls.

Anyone who started skating at least ~10 (or maybe less, who knows) years ago grew up with at least a couple Mike Blabac photos on their wall. This Chromeball interview with him is great, and gives the behind-the-scenes details on what we now consider some of the most iconic images of skateboarding. Also worth reading for any young skate photographers looking to be humbled by how good they have it in the digital era. That A.V.E. nollie crook revert sequence story is wild.

The video that brought the concept of “oft-delayed S.V.A. skate video” to absurdly new heights released a twenty-minute B-roll clip, twenty-something years after the announcement of said video’s production: Outdated B-sides, 2007-2012.

Skaters are idiots.

Everyone talks about the frontside flips and hardflips, but SMLTalk opted to break down Mike Carroll’s five best backside smith grinds. The one down the rail in Pretty Sweet might be one of the most memorable tricks in that entire video, along with the last Cory Kennedy line and Milan grate back 180 nosegrind shuv.
