Monday links on a Tuesday. “Put the motor in the rear, hit the gas and disappear.”

Torey Goodall continues to make the case for being the best skater besides Mike Carroll and maybe Jake Johnson, while emerging as an underdog threat to Lucas Puig’s “Low Impact Skater of the Year” three-peat.

Black Dave Presents: The Selfie Ollie.

Some dudes from Metro Skateshop really stepped up the custom shaped cruiser game by affixing trucks to an Apple keyboard.

Richie Rizzo’s part in the NJ-based Nevermind video drives home the point about how good quickly-edited skateboarding looks. Pretty hard to get hyped off the crawling pace of something like this, despite absolutely insane tricks. (Dude deserves a “Nights Moves”-esque treatment like Cory Kennedy got.)

Some more Finnish dudes with a lifestyle-y “Trip to New York” clip to Miles’ “So What.” (Related: Finland’s previous entry to the 2013 summer trip to New York cycle.)

James Nickerson at Copley Square in the latest Bolts 4-5-6 clip.

A cameo from an occasional QS commenter in the new Lurk NYC montage. Skating on spots created by Houston Street construction remains a popular development for summer 2013 footage.

Saw this part on Hella Trill and thought it was pretty cool. “We don’t sleep, we just grind like skateboarders.” Are doubles with BMX riders the next frontier for New York’s cellar door skaters?

Wow, someone really missed the mark with casting a believable skatepark lurker girl for Japanese Elle.

Spot Updates: The north side of Bellevue Park on 27th Street has been closed off by a fence for reconstruction. As a result, the frontside for regular handicap ramp rail and two-stair manual pad are no longer skateable.

Fourteen years after when they should have drafted him (instead opting for the eventual victim of the best dunk of all-time, who would never play an NBA game…), the Knicks have signed Ron Artest.

Frozen in Carbonite reviews some books while drawing parallels to skating and stuff. “One could say that skaters born between 1972 and 1975 (Markovich, etc.) got screwed because they were too young to get in on that eighties money, yet too old to get in on the late 90s shoe/board sale boom.”

The Tennyson remixes continue. This time, it’s a Chocolate mini video with re-edited parts from Kenny Anderson, Chris Roberts, Gino and Richard Mulder.

Spot Updates: 1) There are two [likely temporary] small manual pads at the former Bubble Banks right now. Get some wheelies in while you can, because they’ll probably build stuff on top or around them. 2) There’s a doghouse / spine ramp thing at the BQE spot now.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Danny Green breaks Jesus Shuttlesworth’s record for most three-point shots made in a NBA Finals with 23.

How awful is the title of that new Jay-Z album? Not that there is any interest in the album around here either way, but the title is so particularly bad that it had to be mentioned. Either way, thanks for the memories.

PWBC News Is Back!!!

pwbc

Palace’s addition of Danny Brady and Benny Fairfax seemed like an inevitability, but no one expected this ninety-degree Saturday to yield the return of PWBC news. Most assumed the PWBC team had moved past broadcast journalism and into the more profitable hard goods manufacturing / Rihanna-baiting market, leaving the Tompkins bench depleted of a 2010 conversation centerpiece.

We now have reason to believe that British-based skate roster upheaval is finally settling down. American rosters remain in utter disarray, which is why the latest report focuses on topics pertaining to the former British colony. PWBC’s revival deals with the rebranding of Austyn Austin Gillette, the lack of a case for #trendwatch2012 bleached hair, and the never-ending saga of “omg is he being #sincere or #ironic?” when utilizing current rap for music supervision.

The report doesn’t limit itself to current day happenings, as the fifteen-year-plus question of how exactly Lamont Macintosh rode up the Banks wall the way he did is brought back into the spotlight.

Good to have these guys back.

In the event that you want to see actual Danny Brady footage, check this standalone version of his shared part from Rob Harris’ Dece Vid.

No clue what the concept behind these Skateboarder “Cruising” videos is supposed to be (a hastag-ized “Day in the Life” series?), but the new Eli Reed one is solid.

In the realm of skatepark lines by skaters with seemingly unhuman consistency, this is quite impressive, but there can only be one king.

Billy McFeely skates Tompkins obstacles from 2013, but in 1991 though.

Just so everyone knows: “The government made this dude so everyone else would stop skating.” — Billy McFeely. (P.S. That link might get deleted.)

Yet another interview with Palace Skateboards mastermind, Lev Tanju. Also, if you haven’t signed the petition to preserve Southbank, do it now. Multi-generational street spots are few and far between these days, and it’d be a real shame to see such an iconic piece of skate history destroyed in favor favour of retail space.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Got to be Andre Miller’s game-winning drive. The awful news about David Lee (not to mention Faried, Gallo, etc. injuries) really puts a damper on one of the Sports Desk’s most anticipated playoff match-ups.

America could learn a lot from the Germans. They took hunks of granite from an old government building and used them to produce an amazing skate spot on an obsolete airfield. Imagine if all that City Hall granite actually went towards making a skate plaza for the city of Philadelphia? How many city plazas get torn out and reduced to scrap each year in the U.S? The “solution” is so simple, but gets turned into such a stupid mess because of zoning / permits / $$$ / insurance / red tape.
