Congratulations to John Gardner on the pro board ♥ There are few skaters as contagiously fun to watch as John, and if getting people hyped to skate is the principal purpose of why we have pro skateboarders to begin with, John should’ve been pro ages ago :) Creature dropped a remix of his footy from the past few years to illustrate that exact point. Can’t think of a recent skate commercial that was this good. Philly Santosuosso and a friend pay homage to Spike and Mike’s “Is it the shoes?” Jordan ad on the occasion of Philly’s new Venture truck. The execution is just so, so good, right down to every little detail. Give everyone involved a raise.

“She’s like, ‘Are you that exciting that somebody is going to follow you all day?’ And I’m like, ‘Hell yeah.'” There’s a bit of #fomo with each slice of content that involves friends abroad these days. Pocket‘s “Followed” segment kicked it with Hjalte Halberg for a day. Yes there are noseslides, yes we miss his beautiful Danish voice. “Ah, ok, fuck.”

Who knows what love is” is a fifteen-minute homie video by Lorenzo Frijas. 2/3 Bay Area footage, 1/3 New York, all good vibes the whole way through ♥

I think it says in that book The War of Art that just sitting down and doing the thing can break down a creative block. Sometimes, a project takes on a life of its own and becomes something you never imagined. Skate videographer, Jeremy Elkin — whom you might remember from Poisonous Products and The Brodies — initially set out to make a documentary about the seminal Zoo York video, Mixtape. His research led in a more expansive direction.

It has been really rad seeing so many skaters from different crews and generations out at the protests, so Jenkem put together a helpful guide on how to safely attend one. And a lot of people have been asking about where to go for info on meeting points: follow @justiceforgeorgenyc on Instagram, as they have a round-up of all protests and related events available the night before. Special shout to all the skate family out there distributing supply packs, you know who you are ♥

The Black List is a continually updated list of active black-owned skateboard companies, and links on how to support each one, curated by Patrick Kigongo (ColonelKSpeaks for all the Twitter people.) The Mostly Skateboarding dudes got Kigongo on their podcast this week, and Anthony Pappalardo the Writer also got some words from him on the origins of the project.

“Mired in gloom, to whom to look to for hope? A swaggering, bearded and sometimes-shirtless Frenchman beckons, modeling responsible social distancing behaviors from within a picturesque seaside flat. Lucas Puig is the COVID-19 therapeutic the world needs to see through these dark, blurring-together days.” Boil the Ocean throws Lucas Puig’s name in the hat for S.O.T.Q. — Skater of the Quarantine. And after that Biarritz edit, we are inclined to agree ♥
