Throughout most of our lifetimes, the four-peat has been elusive in professional sports. (The last one was the New York Islanders’ dynastic run of Stanley Cup wins from 1980 until 1983.) This weekend, however, we approach the real possibility of the first four-peat of the new millennium: Wade Desarmo could become the World Champion of Skateboarding for the fourth time in a row.
Only one obstacle stands in his way: winner of Thrasher’s 2013 “Skater of the Year” Award and recurring recipient of Quartersnacks’ more encompassing “Best Skater” award, Ishod Wair.
Your local shop, bar, and T.F. bench has no doubt been abuzz with predictions about this weekend’s game, but predictions seem split down the middle. Sure, Ishod is the Best Skater™ — except who really wants to play devil’s advocate by doubting a three-time repeating champion? Since none of us have ever played a World Champion in S.K.A.T.E. before, our opinions are reduced to amateur guesswork. To get some real insight, we contacted Wade’s past three Glory Challenge opponents and Dennis Busenitz, who once famously swept him in an obscure exhibition series called “Battle at the Berrics,” for their predictions.

The Shady One™ put together a clip of a new Brooklyn D.I.Y. envisioned by Max “#MCM” Palmer, in conjunction with Nike’s 58 project. Features Cyrus, Conor, Sean Pablo, Logan Lara, etc. etc. and John Choi with the ender.
“Just as the Sabotage dudes unearthed, resurfaced and restored an entire scene that had been municipally buried and professionally abandoned, John Shanahan seems to harbour deeper ambitions.” Although the hyper #curated outfits probably draw the most attention, gonna have to echo some of Boil the Ocean’s sentiments here. The dude puts more effort into skating long-forgotten spots that people otherwise push past every weekend than anyone else out there right now, and has one of the most sophisticated eyes out for loose tiles and grates.
Boil the Ocean also weighs in on the most recent batch of X-Games “Real Street” segments, while contemplating whether or not somebody will ever look as cool as Lavar McBride when he nollie backside flipped the stairs at Hubba Hideout.
Harold Hunter Day is now Harold Hunter weekend. Features a couple chill Tyshawn clips at the Fat Kid Park. And of course Slicky Boy got a free pair of shoes.
The good news is that Quan promised to never let us down again. The bad news is that he’s being cryptic about the release of ten songs he has with Future :(

Waiting for Drew to say “YOOOOOOO” longer than the last time he said “YOOO.”
Waiting for Ishod to admit he inherited Lebron’s headband collection.
Waiting for Johnny to start eating cheeseburgers and making weekly video blogs again, reclaiming the banner of productivity that he held so tightly from 2012-2015.
Waiting for Max to find a metal crevice that he can’t send his board through.
…I think Andrew has a longer “YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” in him, but for everything else, we’ll have to keep waiting, and waiting. In the meantime, here’s a video from some of those guys forcing us to play the wait game, and a couple guys with their names on skate shoes skating throughout the south this past spring.
Did we singlehandedly ruin Copenhagen? No, probably not. Did we contribute to turning it into Tulum for boys, to the point where everyone goes there for “vacation” and sees the same people from the side of the ocean that they just left? Not no.
Just as Kramer blew up the big “secret” of swimming in the East River through enthusiastic word of mouth, there’s only so many times a cosmopolitan, fashion-forward skateboard blog site could write about the virtues of the world’s greatest place (full disclaimer: I’m a Paris guy), and not have at least a few earthlings leave their computer screens and hop on a flight.
It was an obsession that began with the Ragers Inc. clip, filmed during the world’s greatest skateboarder’s tenure in the world’s greatest place, circa 2011. Since then, it has become the epicenter of the world’s most absurd spots, and “home to skateboarding’s SXSW.” A few dozen Copenhagen trips between the two, and Danish-set skateboarding content on QS has hit critical mass. Maybe we’ll check out Bucharest?

It brings us great shame — both as devout front row #fashionweek attendants but also unpaid Copenhagen tourist board employees — to discover that apparently there’s a Copenhagen fashion week? Who would’ve thought designers need an entire [half] week dedicated to wearing all black, avoiding eye contact and appearing indifferent? Maybe that’s every fashion week though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Word is that they timed #CPHFW along with the CPH Open contest, which is like the perfect storm for potential bad decisions (turning a watermelon into a pipe, etc.) Anyway, back to Sremmlife 2…
