Almost Got Into a Fight With American Pie Guy

In case you haven’t heard: the Tompkins construction that was set to begin in September, will now begin ~mid-November. The colder the weather, the less of a chance the asphalt will cure soft, or something like that? Any QS Readers work for a paving company?

Going Once, Going Twice” is a fun Philly-based video by Fionn McLaughlin that’s light on the Muni and heavy on the crust. (Feel like there was another recent-ish homie video that ended with “Dirty Work” as well? Perfect homie video song.)

Mark Humienik, Nico Marti, Alan Bell, Zak Anders + more in Chase Walker’s Minneapolis trip edit from an Asics wear test.

“Every day is Friday when you’re Tyshawn Jones.” Late on this — and it’s not a skate pod obvs — but Tyshawn was on the Throwing Fits podcast a week-and-a-half ago. (That link opens in Spotify, btw. But it’s on Apple Podcasts, too.)

The Price Is Right

Love when videos from younger crews go in on midtown spots. “Cockeyed” by Jack Held is a new video mainly filmed in New York with a Miami clip here and there. Back tail down the U.N. hubba and back lip down the tall-ass World Trade rail were crazy.

The YouTuber formerly known as Juicy Elbowz (but currently known as Jesse Alba) dropped a watermarked masterpiece of iPhone footage featuring himself and other Frogian acolytes.

“Before I ever started skateboarding, I played Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater. I remember doing wallrides on the game and thinking it was just impossible like it was something only possible in the game.” Heckride interviewed Akwasí Owusu. (Usually when someone has an interview with QS scheduled and it’s timed so close to another one the person just had come out, we fall back. Shout out to Heckride for mentioning the Village Psychic one upfront, and using it to begin the interview altogether. The two came out nothing alike, so shout out to them for that, too ❤️)

Zered is the latest subject of the Lookback Library’s “Cover Discussions” series, chatting about his three Transworld covers and three Skateboarder covers. (Crazy he hasn’t had a Thrasher one before, especially given the Massachusetts connection with Phelps.)

“Caller 10” is a crustaceous journey by Pittsburgh’s Radio Skateshop through one of the roughest cities for skate spots. Includes a great Zach Funk part to close it out.

While we’re on the topic of crust, peep Adam Meuller’s part in Justin Bohl’s Detroit video, Minted, which includes everything from lines on broken boats through abandoned buildings to polejams out of snow piles.

Don’t Write No More Letters To Mr. Sinatra

“As far as Jimmy Quartersnacks was concerned with Tommy being made Meatball making it back to Japan, it was like we were all being made making it back to Japan.” Happy Birthday Meatball (and Rihanna) 💞 QS for Classic Grip available at Japanese shops now ❤️

Fly’n across America 🇺🇸 Ryan Mettz dropped a quick new homie edit with Cyrus, Max, Karim & Franco.

Acai, film rolls and sushi: Skate Jawn‘s latest “$100 Chill” feature is with Naquan Rollings and perfectly encapsulates a low-stakes winter skate day in New York.

Also for Skate Jawn: Zach Moeller got on his Bourdain shit and wrote a guide on how to hit Europe for two with absolutely zero plan.

“Hey Troy, so how much shit do you usually get for having such pretty eyes?” Heckride interviewed Troy Gipson.

Floating

Ok, We’re Leaving” is a sick Chicago scene edit by Harald Reynolds that casts a wide net beyond the expected batch of Chase footage, and has a lot of sick clips from Vince Guzaldo, winner of top honors in Boil the Ocean’s “Best of 2022” accolades. Those cut-out ledge tricks at the end are wild.

“I will never take the $17 Panda Bus again.” Heckride interviewed Salomon Cardenas.

Ayoub Tabri dropped a sick new D.C. edit for Skate Jawn featuring Rahzel, Kevin Augustine, and other Pulaski locals.

Jenkem got 2023 predictions and more from a bunch of familiar faces in their latest “Shop Talk” installment from the F.A. store with Father Bop, Efron, and more.
