Rocks In The Burritos

“For the kids coming out of rough homes, for those grappling against doubt and depression, pressures real or felt, the battles can have a kind of seductiveness. The way they can grip and blot out nearly every other single thing, to the point of blacking out. The fulfillment and release of actually prevailing can be almost secondary… even faintly deflating.” Boil the Ocean wrote about skateboarding. And Marc Johnson.

Greenpoint Palace is hosting a premiere of the new Polar video, You Got It My Boy Jamie, this Thursday, June 4th @ 8:30 P.M. 21+. 206 Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn. Flyer here.

Congrats to The Bunt on ten years 🤝

Damn, remember when Tyshawn switch ollied one of these things from flat, and then morons in the comments (not on QS, but elsewhere) were like, “Yeah, nah, actually the corner is kinda bent, so…” Anyway, shout out to the gate challenge.

That’s Not A Website, Quartersnacks Is A Website

The Eifuku crew out of Japan dropped a New York trip edit, which has the #2 clip from last week’s Top 10 — but a lot of other gems too. That noseslide to boardslide on the barrier at Columbus Circle was wild. Also love it when visitors night skate; they even re-unlocked Times Square half-a-decade past it being a go.

Lots of spots inside empty malls and a fire bit of Hardbody Ross footy at the end in Matty Hilzenrath’s new NJ-scene edit, “Five On Pump Two.” Ross gotta go back for that hardflip. (Also shout out to his frontside flip tweak on the XL Tompkins bump-to-bar.)

No Spots In Spotsylvania

Adding Ratscavage’s CURB video to the Quartersnacks One-Spot Part Map 📍 CURB is a 27-minute video filmed exclusively at the 12th and Monmouth curbs / D.I.Y. in Jersey City. Heard the spot called Moishe’s ages ago, but haven’t really been tapped in with what’s going on with Jersey City skateboarding in recent times. Calling it Moishe’s on the map because “Oh jeez, I worked for Moishe, I worked for Mayflower…”

Back tail shove sorcery on the ledge between the two banks at ConEd plus more in the new Late Nite Stars throwaway edit — hopefully a hint of a new full-length on the way.

The community board approved the construction of the Brooklyn Skate Garden in Mount Prospect Park, albeit the scaled-down version that is half the size of the original plan.

We have a small capsule with our friends at Dime dropping this Saturday, March 21.

Our good friend Mike Gigliotti was the latest guest on The Bunt. Some clips from that 2007-era push to make a shop homie Supreme video that he mentions can be found in this old 240p edit by Sam Salganik. [Alternate SoundCloud link.]

And on that note, it makes sense that they pivoted away from the homies lurking around Lafayette Street in 2007, and started paying Tyshawn as they headed into the ”cherry era five years later. Complex has a half-hour video interview with Tyshawn. “Stevie Williams or Nick Trapasso?”

Steep Bank To Sprinter Van At The Bottom

We love all civic-minded skate media: Bubble has a 33-minute documentary about the legacy of Sants Plaza in Barcelona, which was demolished a year ago.

Coda dropped a new all-NYC edit over on Skate Jawn. Shanahan rolled in on it to start a line (see #21), but that’s the first time someone treated those amphitheaters at the Citi Field benches as a bank, right? Crazy.

“I just don’t even know no more. For me, if it doesn’t feel like the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, it doesn’t feel like I got a clip.” Really enjoyed Naquan’s 10-minute raw reel of Nikolai clips from his Venture part. Lol’d @ him being shocked at the board having the audacity to go into the water on that nosegrind. Occupational hazard for a Floridian skater, though.
