Con-Edison Banks

Spots: Queens

Rough brick banks on even rougher ground, torn up porno magazines and broken glass everywhere. Also, a ledge between two of those banks. Having big wheels would definitely help your cause. Bring wax.

Fun Fact… Con Edison Banks is the first “park” people pass when they drive out of Rikers Island. Naturally, some keepsakes have been left on the nearby tree over the years. Observe below:

Bust — ♦♦♦♦♦: You are not going to get kicked out of here. In fact, skateboarders, homeless people, recently released inmates and and their love interests are probably the only ones who bother spending time here.

Location: 20th Avenue and 31st Street in Astoria. Take the N or W to Astoria–Ditmars (the last stop, but only about fifteen minutes outside of Manhattan), and skate north on 31st Street for about six blocks until it ends at the Con Ed plant. You get a downhill skate to the spot as an added bonus.
