Late on all of this, but…got sucked into a Google wormhole of reading about ghost cities in China — urban developments intended for millions of people that ended up containing maybe ~2% of that projection. That naturally provoked the question of “why has no one done a skate trip here?” which then lead to a discovery of this two-year-old video. It’s the most eerily post-apocalyptic skate video ever.

Between PJ Ladd’s Wonderful Horrible Life, and this month’s unsolved mystery of a missing Plan B part, many Suffolk County-based skateboarders have learned to skate “some type of way.” The Coliseum video set off the previous decade (which actually ended after the release of Aesthetics’ Ryde of Ride video in 2001, not on December 31, 1999 at 11:59:59 P.M.), and the best relatively low-bust ledge spot on the eastern seaboard progressed it, allowing Boston to breed the closest northeastern counterpart to EuroTech™ (EggTech™ maybe, or something to that effect?)

Gavin sat on Plan B flow for years while sustaining on Clif bars and mini tangerines, until ultimately getting hooked up 4real by Zoo earlier this fall. Anyone who has been around for the past few summers in New York knows he’s one of the nicest, most consistent and simply down-to-skate-with-everyone dudes around, so it’s great to see him get some shine. There were quite a bit of extras from his lil welcome part, so we combined the two to a less boom bap-ified variant, along with the original footage.

Don’t Look Like That: End of Summer 2013

We’re three weeks past our Labor Day deadline for End of Summer clips, Dre is back to wearing colors besides white, and we’ve been experiencing some 50-degree mornings, so this is more like a Start of Fall clip.

The past summer was weird. Our research of recent visitor trends revealed a massive increase of Brooklyn readers, so we were advised to up the wallie and wallride count in this video by a whopping 80%. In fact, Josh Velez took it upon himself to enter the wallie arc of his career some seven years earlier than he initially anticipated to remedy this disconnect between the site’s content and its readers/viewers. Also, there are an inordinate amount of Jersey Shore spots in this clip to add to the weirdness.
