Astor & Lafayette, in a galaxy far, far away. Jacked from That’s a Crazy One.

It’s the end of the summer, 100 degrees out, and people are fucking pissed.

“In fact, they feel it was exploitative, that Clark capitalized on the brilliance of the crew while failing to capture the true beauty of their world. They weren’t as sex crazed as the film portrays them, for one. More important, in Kids, it seems all the boys want is to fuck the girls, but in real life, the girls weren’t sexual conquests. The boys and girls ran neck and neck and were best friends.” Ok, so lately been wondering about the origins of the photos from @thatsacrazyone on Instagram, which has tons of early and mid nineties stuff around Astor, Washington Square and the Banks + some same faces from Out & About, etc. (This Loki photo is the coolest a slappy crook on a six-inch curb will ever look.) Turns out its for an upcoming book of the same name, whose website hasn’t been updated in a year-and-a-half, but apparently is still coming out as per this feature in August’s issue of Vice. Really looking forward to this one :)

Byrd Gang videos are my new favorite videos out of New York. Teaser for the new one.

File Jawn Gardner’s Bruns 2 part under: Video Parts That Made Me Yell At My Computer Screen More Than Three Times in 2016.

Probably listened to The War Report more than any other venerated nineties New York rap album as an adult, so this’ll be a nice addition for the wall.

“Rifuckingdiculously Sorry” is the forth and final installment to Flip’s Sorry series, oddly starring a bunch of Canadians skating in Toronto.

The history of skateboarding unfolded pretty much alongside the development of trucks, and plot-twist — women run everything in skateboarding. Part two of Jeff Grosso’s history of skateboard trucks is now live. (Part one went live last month btw.)

Andrew Allen interviews Austyn Gillette.

Village Psychic with another round of strange skater + sponsor match-ups.

Probably the best *sounding* video of all time, Tim Dowling’s Listen, in full.

Speaking of videos that sound like they look, Budapest’s Rios Crew A.K.A. the New Jersey-ians of Europe just dropped a new one called “Nap Mint Nap Volume 3.”

You probably already saw this: Austyn’s TWS cover footage and Brad Cromer front blunting a Seaport bench in Huf’s new NYC edit.

This is six-years-old and has nothing to do with skateboarding, but I read it on the plane twice. “If journalism’s more vital traditions of investigating corruption and synthesizing complex topics are going to be restored, it will never be at the expense of the personal, the sexual, the venal, or the sensational, but rather through mastering the kind of storytelling that understands that none of those things exists in a vacuum.”

Dude it’s almost 2016. Previously: 15-11, 20-16, 25-21. Don’t forget to vote in our reader’s choice awards. Only two days to go ;)

10. Gillette’s Lafayette & Howard Ollie

This spot has always been a mirage. It looks cool, and is a bit out of place from the rest of the shit you passed along the way, but there’s not much there. The way people skate it also only evolves every ~ten years: what has been a wallride for as long as people have been making the skate from Supreme to the Banks, became a chain-to-manny concoction with Dill’s Skate More part in 2004. And this past year, Austyn Gillette eyed the barely wider-than-a-board slab of concrete at the bottom of the wall, and made the massive [blindsided from traffic] ollie into Howard Street.

Help Kevin Tierney get a new knee.

Dime and Alltimers present…the first skateboard specifically designed for girls.

It may be gone by the time you read this, but the crew from Canal Wheels dropped off a new box at T.F. (Though it seems to have already switched sponsors.) Sorta wonder if a loose box stands to live a longer life at Delancey curb rather than T.F. these days.

TWS posted a “Five Trick Fix” from Johnny Wilson’s new video, Sure. Word is that it’s going online sometime this week :)

Obviously there are three Soho clips in the new Austyn Gillette part.

Also always been my favorite part from the guy who ruined skateboarding.

SML Talk comes through with some detailed analysis of the “one down,” rather than the more popular “one up.” Unless there are photos of you running in next month’s Thrasher, A.B.Ds are an irrelevant concept in 2015. Chris Joslin or Shane O’Neill are always only a five-hour flight away. Somebody will be better than you, the guy who did the best tricks over the Flushing grate is someone you’ve probably never heard of, and nobody will ever look as cool as J.B. Gillet. Who cares if some nerd in brown pants did a better trick? Like, have fun dude ;) #sk8life

Genesis Evans’ part from Life is Goodie. Watch out for rocks and cracks.

Our friends at Chapman out in Long Island dropped a new short video, “For Play:”

This intro clip for some new company called Futur is solid. Features Santiago Sasson and Juan Saavedra, who you probably recognize from the past few Palace videos.

NY Skateboarding has some good photos of the Nike park in Greenpoint, if you have yet to go. It’s open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 A.M. to 7 P.M. until Labor Day, though I feel like someone was saying it’ll last til the end of September.

A quick two minutes from the The Bronx.

Can’t imagine this will resist the fate of the ledges facing the main street at this spot after the new sidewalk is laid down.

Yo we out to Beirut

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Lamarcus Aldridge cancelled his scheduled meeting with the Knicks, back when his destination was still a question. The Spurs will be in the Finals next year, Timmy will have one more ring than Kobe, shrug it off, and walk into the sunset created by the pause screen of his favorite video game.

Shout out Jaden.

R.I.P. Westway. Definitely had fun there a few summers ago.

PWBC News Is Back!!!

pwbc

Palace’s addition of Danny Brady and Benny Fairfax seemed like an inevitability, but no one expected this ninety-degree Saturday to yield the return of PWBC news. Most assumed the PWBC team had moved past broadcast journalism and into the more profitable hard goods manufacturing / Rihanna-baiting market, leaving the Tompkins bench depleted of a 2010 conversation centerpiece.

We now have reason to believe that British-based skate roster upheaval is finally settling down. American rosters remain in utter disarray, which is why the latest report focuses on topics pertaining to the former British colony. PWBC’s revival deals with the rebranding of Austyn Austin Gillette, the lack of a case for #trendwatch2012 bleached hair, and the never-ending saga of “omg is he being #sincere or #ironic?” when utilizing current rap for music supervision.

The report doesn’t limit itself to current day happenings, as the fifteen-year-plus question of how exactly Lamont Macintosh rode up the Banks wall the way he did is brought back into the spotlight.

Good to have these guys back.

In the event that you want to see actual Danny Brady footage, check this standalone version of his shared part from Rob Harris’ Dece Vid.

Shine bright like a Fudge Round

We’ve been fans of Christian Willis’ skating for a while now. After what seems like a bit of a hiatus, he’s back taller and with a sick new video part. Why a legitimate company hasn’t given this kid a chance is absurd. Him and Forrest Edwards should be getting checks for skating.

As you may already know, London’s Southbank is facing an uncertain future. There’s a new six-minute montage paying tribute to the spot, featuring every London-based skater you can think of. Huck wrote a somewhat level-headed appraisal of the situation, which doesn’t seem likely to favor preservation of the spot as it stands. But it’s a bit stupid to say “The British skate media is secretly tired of Southbank’s status as the UK’s EMB,” considering skate spots with multi-decade spanning histories are becoming increasingly rare with each passing year.

The inaugural entry to 2013’s “Summer Trip to New York” cycle?! Part 1, Part 2.

AM New York has a new clip with Ariel Perl shredding around Boston and New York.

Ripped Laces contends that Austyn Gillette will inevitably skate for Converse.

Zered Bassett already rides for Converse and has some photos with a new interview about a recent Cons Hawaii trip over on the Transworld site.

The new LurkNYC video, CCTV, is premiering at 44 Troutman Street in Brooklyn this Saturday, May 18. J train to Myrtle-Broadway. 10 P.M. Flyer here, teaser here.

Still mad street.

There’s another part from Mama’s Boys on YouTube now.

An interview with the Mira Conyo crew about skateboarding in Washington Heights.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Either Iman Thug’s Game 2 putback or Nate Robinson’s block on Lebron.

Didn’t Mark Suciu film more parts last year than Rogers did in his entire career?

Cam rapped over the Golden Girls theme and the new Waka mixtape is pretty good because it doesn’t sound like every other tape he released in the past three years.
